My gaydar only works on men.

That's all I need though, personally.

Gaydar isn't just about helping you get laid. Gaydar can keep you safe. Being able to read people is important if you are part of a minority which is so often victimized. Being able to discern who it is safe to disclose your sexuality to is an important skill for every gay person to develop.

I know people think the "former bisexual" line is real cute, but I don't think it's particularly funny. Not only does it mock one of the few public figures who exemplifies what it means to be the Q (questioning/queer) in LGBTQIA, it ignores the obvious fact that she is a closeted lesbian. Anyone with functioning gayday should be able to tell she is concealing her sexuality in order to benefit her career. While that isn't exactly a noble choice, it's certainly a choice people on this site ought to be sympathetic too.

My lesbian gaydar is shitty :proud: what makes you think so?

I mean it is true tho. Didn't she release an album last year? People care about Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Melanie Martinez, Halsey and all this other dumb **** tho, even LMFAO had success yrs ago, so idk why Jessie flops so hard. Still, I don't like her at all for some reason, lmao.

Did they lie, though? It's fascinating how she became irrelevant so quickly. Seriously, by her second album, the UK was done with her. I don't know who went down on who to get her the chance to do a single with Ariana and Nicki because she just isn't a big enough name to warrant such A-list collabs. But calling her career "fledgling" even though she debuted over 6 years ago and has 3 albums and several hits in the UK seems more than a little harsh. And that article finishing with a shot of her backside getting out a car was unbelievably cruel and a weird choice of ending photo. I felt like I was reading a GGD post when it said "former bisexual," seeing as that phrase is so common here.

I think people say it purely to mock her for lying about it. Nicki Minaj was equally mocked when she admitted that she just made up the bisexual thing to get people interested in her. I think by putting them down for it, we hope to discourage more new celebrities from jumping on the bisexual bandwagon just because it's "on trend," get them love and loyalty from the LGBT community and get them male fans who are turned on by them being hot for girls but still totally wanting the d. Sexual orientation should not be a means to get popularity or to get talked about when non-celebrities suffer daily for their sexual orientations. But I totally get your point all the same. If she is indeed suppressing lesbianism (that was oddly enough, the rumour just before she claimed to be straight) for the sake of her career, then, yes, that is a shame. Honestly, if it is the truth, she'd be better off just admitting it now. Her career is already at an all-time low, it would hardly make it any worse.

There is a difference between Katy and Nikki using bisexuality as a gimmick (which by the way, I don't have a problem with. If it makes the public more comfortable with bisexuality, then who cares? Pop stars pretending to be more sexually fluid then they really are is nothing new, Bowie says hello.) and what Jessie J has said on the subject of her sexuality. If you read all of her statements it paints the picture of an insecure and confused woman who isn't comfortable discussing her sexual preferences publicly. My gayday tells me she is a lesbian, even if she isn't, we need to stop giving people flack for **** like this. Let people experiment! Let people change their minds.

It's funny how they take advantage of something she said years ago. Maybe she wanted to explore with her sexuality, I see nothing wrong with that. We're human beings, not programmed machines established to act all the same.

Wow, I've never thought about the idea of "gaydar" in that aspect. Interesting thought to ponder
