I approve. The White Gays in the LGBTQ community all tend to be racist (talking from personal experience) and I love how they're spreading the message (unlike the white gays that dont care at all about black lives) Those that are offended are racist and scared

barak obama should in some way overtake this movement after hes out of ofice and give it some direction. i'm not sure it will work otherwise if people can go and do **** like this and make the movement as a whole look bad. if it had a leader who was well spoken and level headed, they could condemn this kind of thing and let it be known that this is not what BLM is about. 

 

without a leader, anyone can just say black lives matter! and **** in a white girls starbucks cup and there is your representation of black lives matter to be broadcast across the country  .

Everything a minority does is "disgusting" in your eyes. Weird how almost everything progressive and liberal is "disgusting" but whats not disgusting is the constant racism and bigotry you spew and co-sign to on a daily. They're doing this because gays like yourself do not care about police brutality. Gays like yourself do not speak up on situations like this unless it happens to your own type of gay.

I’m not suggesting that BLM doesn’t have some legitimate issues with the police or some cause to be concerned. But to hold a parade hostage while they demanded that there be no more Toronto police providing security at the event, no more police floats in the parade or that Pride hires more of their members, struck me as downright self-serving.

This is my problem with it. LGBT members have been mistreated by police in the past too, but you don't see them doing this.

This isn't Detroit, it's Toronto, Canada.

Black Lives Matter? Okay, how many black people lost their lives in police shootings in Canada this year?

-25 police shootings on average nation-wide
-most of those are white people or aboriginals
-unlike America, blacks make up less than 3% of Canada's population

Let me guess... 2, 3 black people shot so far? Probably quite justified cases? Out of 35,000,000 population?

The BLM is, at it's core, a positive movement. This isn't say, the black version of the KKK, they have valid arguments and their issues are just as important as those of people of the LGBTQ+ community. Yes, there are people who go overboard and go outrageous things, but that does not mean that you can generalize an entire movement like that.

 

Can you make a thread with some of the good things they've done please? 'Cause stuff like this is all I ever hear about. It's made the BLM movement, in my mind, go from strong people standing up for equality to a bunch of weak combatants with the ultimate victim complex

Their protest(?) would have a lot more weight here in the States honestly. According to PolitiFact, the CDC says from 1999 to 2011, 2,151 whites died by being shot by police compared to 1,130 blacks but whites make up 63 percent of the population, while blacks make up just 12 percent. They were observing a claim by some conservative journalist that was trying to make it out like it isn't at least partially racially motivated when it obviously is.

The police are more of a show of force and "authority", bullying people as much as they help, rather than a respectful group of people upholding the law. That's generally speaking, of course, I know quite a few amazing police officers...just saying

They're not stopping another movement; these people are gay black people wanting to be more included in the gay festivities.  That's literally it.  Just because they are black does not mean they're not also gay !   And the organizers agreed completely !   They were working together, exactly as you wish ! 

Like !!!!!!!!!!!  It's that simple !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  There is nothing to misunderstand !!!!!! I'm not black; I'm latino, and even then their wants are plain and simple to me.  If I can understand it easily, the rest of you can to, but people aren't letting themselves understand it because people on this site immediately jump to the worst conclusions and start being lowkey aggressive when threads like this pop up (not pointing that to you specifically, but there's many people on this site that do that).  The face of gay people / gay rights in this country is incredibly white, and there's a lot of homophobia in the black community.  Gay black people need more space in things like pride, and the organizers agreed with this and gave them the space they needed.

The only bad thing that happened concerning BLM recently is when that girl got up to speak at the Pulse vigil and started talking **** about the white people not coming to their BLM meetings but coming to a gay meeting instead; she was completely out of line especially considering why everyone was there.  However, the other couple of "incidents" posted on these forums have been completely harmless yet people got so worked up over nothing.
