There was an armed off duty policeman at the entrance. Two more policeman were close by and they exchanged gunfire. 

In these situations, the security are usually the first to get killed. No club is going to have several military members standing at the entrance with semi-automatic weapons, which are ready and aimed at everyone that comes up to the entrance. One off duty policeman with a handgun in a holster is what you usually have.

Well this is not something any club, school, university, cinema, church or office should be prepared for. It's sad they should be now.

As the father... He should just shut up. Other people like your brother can ask that question but this man should have never said what he said. His son is the only responsible and trying to say that maybe if security was stronger nothing would have happened is beyond disrespectful.

I wish I could blame it on the language barrier but he clearly knows what he is saying because the idea is there.

then, now in every movie theaters, bars, churches, etc... should have an army of armed men? Is this  - and this man-  what you're suggesting? Change our lifestyle? Because that is exactly what the Islamic fundamentalists want

I didn't say prepared to mean have heavily armed men at the door. This is a sensitive subject and I did say I don't agree with what the father said and I don't think the club did anything wrong. 

Now think about this Omar got into a club with a rifle. It must have been hidden under a coat or heavy hoodie in order for him to even get close to the club. IMO. I have not seen any reports yet that mention what he was wearing. But this was June in summer in Florida, this is a little conspicuous. Again I am not advocating military styled guards anywhere. But we as people and the security at the doors should be educated as to what to look for. 

I don't blame the club and this is ISIS and Omar's fault but we also as people need to be responsible and alert the authorities when we see something strange. Unfortunately this is the time we are living in. 

Also I didn't know there was two off duty policemen at the club. Were they also hurt during shooting?

I agree he should not have said it, but it does give us a talking point as to what we should be looking for. Like the bombing in the Brussels airport, each of the suspects were wearing one glove because that hand was on a trigger. 

Omar must have been wearing something heavy like a coat or heavy hoodie to hide a rifle. Remember this was Florida in the middle of June. I live in FL and have been to Orlando in June. No one wears anything heavy during those months.

There was one off duty policeman at the club that was security for the club. Then, there were two off duty policeman who were nearby enough to go in very quickly. From what I understand from seeing an interview with the chief of police yesterday, the security gaurd exchanged fire with the murderer once he got inside. He must have not been standing at the entry. It was thirty minutes from closing...maybe he was patrolling the parking lot as people left or over by the patio, or something? Maybe that's why this guy waited until two to start his rampage...he waited until security wasn't at the front entrance? 

The gun used was a special kind of AR, made to fold up and I believe the front part detached. Isn't that just great...now they are making these types of weapons easier to conceal. I doubt he had to do that, though. He probably just watched and waited for the right window of opportunity to go in.

Yeah the gun he used was easier to conceal and more light weight and less of a kick back than the AR-15. It is actually marketed as a deadlier easier to use weapon. 

but even folded up its still a about how the size of a grown mans forearm. The details of where he concealed the weapon is unknown or even if he concealed it. Below is the gun he used.

Yes he probably was wearing something to hide the rifle but we don't all the details of what happened that night before the shooting so it's kind of pointless to question the abilities of the club security now.

As long as there's crazy people outside and guns there will be mass shootings because even if we put security in every place the shooter will always have the advantage.

This is just so we can learn (in the future) how we can spot a potential threat.  I understand what you are saying. I just want to make sure that I'm clear I don't think the club did anything wrong. I just want to open a conversation about what we can do in the future so that crazy people have less of an advantage and not what the club did wrong or right.
