Alligators also (a) Prefer smaller prey, and thus would be more attracted to toddlers or dogs than adult humans, and (b) Are most active at dusk and early nighttime, and the attack occurred at 21:15 local time. Its a giant ass swamp. There is absolutely no way they could remove every gator from Walt Disney World's property. The lagoon this attack occurred in is man made, but it is fed by natural waterways. I think it is reasonable to assume there is nothing wrong with sticking your feet in a lake and not think twice about being attack by a creature from the dinosaur era. So I don't understand how Disney allowed it in the first place and without giving warnings every where.. I'm not from Florida and only today I learned that you can be attacked by a gator there. I'm not sure why people keep thinking Disney allowed this to happen? They have an active alligator removal program, but its virtually impossible to catch and relocate all of them. I agree, however, the signs along the shore need to better specific why you shouldn't be entering the water. So would every waterpark and pool in every hotel...and access to all lakes... Florida has Alligators. If there are bodies of water in Florida, there will very possibly be Alligators in or around.
