An Orlando woman received terrifying text messages from her son while he was trapped during Sunday’s massacre.

A lone shooter gunned down 50 people and left at least 53 injured at a gay club in Orlando, Florida, in the early morning hours. Amid the rampage, the gunman, whom police have identified as Omar Mateen, took dozens of people hostage.

One of the hostages was Mina Justice’s son Eddie, according to Inside Edition. Eddie sent his mother a string of text messages while he was hiding in the women’s bathroom, the outlet reported. 

One said, “Mommy I love you. In club they shooting.” A later text said “he’s in [t]he bathroom with us.” 

The texts continue with “I’m gonna die” and “he has us.”

the most chilling thought about this whole catastrophe was the thought of being in this place with over 50 bodies laying on the floor and all their cell phones are ringing from their loved ones worrying about them...

He didn't make it.  But apparently his boyfriend is in the hospital, being treated. At least a part of him, in some weird way, lives on. I can't even begin to imagine the poor guy's feelings and pain though.

In a way the son got to say goodbye to his mother but then I can't imagine the pain of losing a son. I think for a parent having to experience the death of a child is so painful because it usually is the other way around. Knowing you are helpless and can't do nothing at that point is painful. 

All I can do is stare blankly on my screen right now but for other people, this is their realities. May the loved ones of those who died have strength to face this.

I didn't cry when I heard the news. I was shocked, sad, and angry but I didn't cry.  I'm used to explosions and tragedy having grown up in Lebanon. 

But when I too read "Mommy I Love you' and "I'm gonna die", I suddenly thought of how it would feel like if I were in the mothers' shoes.

Let's just say my eyes are puffy right now

Yeah I saw that the other day.  First time in a while where my jaw literally dropped. To just imagine that poor guy trembling and scared out of his skin texting his mum knowing it would be his last is... idk...so chilling :-/
