If the officer hadn't dropped his head onto the concrete corner of the sidewalk after tasering him to a helpless state, he wouldn't have been sent to prison.

We wouldn't even be talking about this.

You simply cannot defend taking someone who is incapable of moving and physically harming their body. There is nothing that can excuse that. If you only showed someone a video of the officer picking up the kids body and dropping it head first, no one would be saying the kid had it coming because he didn't. That's psychopathic.

It's like defending an officer for shooting someone in the back because, "they were being a big old meanie face poopie pants!"

That's not at all what I said.

If you're not in the mood to argue then don't misread my posts on purpose.

Well, sadly I know exactly how he should've exercised his rights and he didn't. Yes you have the right to roll your window down even less than halfway, but he was already endangering himself with that disrespectful tone which was basically already a sign of him not going to co-operate for the whole episode. The cop had no business getting in his car, and was wrong demanding him to get out, but at that point you have to co-operate and if you're smart enough you proclaim your right not to be searched, your car included. Instead he refused to get out in a way that's naturally going to annoy a cop, physically resisting for a remarkable time as well, that's just asking for trouble and yes, you deserve to be arrested for that (which is not even a big deal as long as you make sure you don't actually get convicted anyway, so what is this guy fearing?).

But :rip: He didn't deserve the aftermath, and the cop got his punishment both for excessive force and for falsifying his account. I'm not defending him, I'm just saying the guy could probably have prevented the outcome by exercising his rights appropriately, which is something that's important for everyone reading this for possible future experience, though that ofc doesn't mean the cop is free from blame, which I never said, so I'm kind of annoyed that people so lovingly try to play this whole "cop vs. victim" scenario. It's not one or the other.

I swear u must have doo doo in ur head. I'm just gonna leave it at that. As people say, u can't argue with stupid cause they will drag u down to their level and beat u with experience.

If Didy's points are so stupid why can't you bring up any rebuttals to them? If you're going to go on the attack at someone at least put forward some actual points to discuss

I'm happy with doo doo if it means I don't want to post sh-t like that :poot:

Seriously, if you feel like you can correct me, please do. This is quite an important issue, and I'd value it if you (with your apparent knowledge via your cousin) would reply with something other than that, 'cause I can always learn and so can other people reading this thread.

I already did. But obviously somebody doesn't get it. He doesn't understand that Belgium and US are two different places.

This is disgusting and any of you who write essays about what the boy should have done or did wrong should be ashamed of yourselves. He knew very well he was in the wrong and lied about it. That punishment he got is not even half of what he deserves.

Nobody said that the cop was justified in doing this, just because the cop overreacted doesn't mean the boy didn't do anything wrong. We all agree that the cop got what he deserved and doesn't deserve any defence

I never said the boy was right but this is irrelevant. The job of the police is to deal with people in wrong all the time and he failed miserably. To point out what the boy did or didn't do is just victim blaming.

It's worrying that a taser can have such impact, also it's hard to tell but was this appropriate to use it in such situation? Clearly the guy was not cooperating, but asking why he is under arrest seem to be quite normal right? I think both of them are to blame but the use of such force for someone being uncooperative that is not an immediate threat wtf??

Are you serious? You can easily youtube videos. Even the small tasers are enough to make someone pass out.

There's a thing called rights. A person has a choice to refuse if they believe the cop has no reason to be stopping them. Cmon didy! I love your posts, but really?

Where in any legal document does it say that?

Sure the cop dropping him on his face and tazing him for that length of time is excessive....and improper procedure.

But disobeying an officer and refusing arrest is a crime, his legal rights would have been to sue for illegal detention...not refusing arrest.
