If we are talking about quality... the G.U.Y. video was a ****ing mess. Except the beginning of the video, which was brilliant, the rest is really not great. People can say whatever they want, but the Roar video, or Dark Horse video, were absolute smashes. And tbh, these were well-executed videos, because Katy is a big machine which surrounds herself with the best in the industry. I don't know to what extent she was involved in the making of these visuals, but these were great and these were what one can expect from a big act like her, so the people around her are definitely doing a good job there.

On the other hand, Gaga is a control freak that wants to do absolutely everything and doesn't care that much about figures, which is something I appreciate. BUT... sometimes, the execution is just not that great. For instance, I think MTN is absolutely brilliant, but G.U.Y. is embarrassing. If she wants to win Vanguard awards, she needs to allow herself to be part of this system, and surround herself with the right people, something that her peers very gladly do on the daily. Sometimes, to achieve a vision, you need to use the right tools and trust people.

I like Katy's bops and they sit beside Gaga in my pop playlist, but let's be real, her videos are weak and have little to no impact. And I won't be afraid to deny I will be greatly pressed if she wins this award before Gaga does. If any Katy stan here can actually provide receipts of her impact even comparable to that of Gaga's, then I will shut up about it.

"quite a bit" as in it wasn't while she was just starting out with Beautiful Dirty Rich and Just Dance (and possibly others)   

My point is that it was still before any sign of Gaga
