Did Gaga lose proportions in life?

If you take a look back at Gaga during 2008-2009, you can tell she was actually more human than she is now in the sense that she knew to own fame and look at it from the perspective of an anonymous woman. She knew exactly what she was doing and she wasn't afraid of admitting her desire for attention. She lived the life of an average woman and a celebrity all at once. She had one goal and she did indeed achieve it.

Fast-forward to 2016, it seems, to me, that she kind of lost her proportions in life. Don't get me wrong. Being famous is not normal and I don't blame Gaga for feeling the way she is feeling as it's completely understandable for any person to go insane when his/her privacy is violated. However, I feel like Gaga forgot that she has chosen this life and she is continuing to sell for the commercial market. It's so irrational to even think about changing fame culture that it makes me wonder if she's actually aware of what she's even saying. It's so typical for a celebrity to complain about being famous and even quite boring at times.

I don't like to say this but I feel like she completely lost it. She lost the ability to look at life in a much more intelligent way.

Everytime she says something bad about fame she always likes to remind us that she chose this for her so I don't agree with what you say here. If anything she's more aware of how things work now than she was before.

you may say she's a dreamer, but she's not the only one. :derpga: just imagine... she's changed pop culture one sequin at a time. now she's gonna do the same to fame culture.

People who deal with the consequences of their own actions don't complain about them on every interview.

If she's more aware of how thinks work now then why is she even bothering to "change fame culture"?

Just because things have been happening a certain for the past 50 years doesn't mean they should go on happening that way. She's seeing the bullshit in what's happening around her and speaking up about it. You can chose something with somewhat knowledge of the consequences but you never fully now them until you live them.

i'm pretty sure gagz doesn't view herself as a celebrity. she clearly stated that, according to her, there is a difference between celebrities and artists. i agree with that.

She said this back in 2009. She'd be delusional if she still doesn't see herself as a celebrity because no matter how much she forces herself to convince people she's not a celebrity, no one will ever buy it. Being a celebrity is not a bad thing. There are good and bad celebrities. Even Bjork doesn't deny that she's a celebrity. The definition especially applies to Gaga now more than ever now that she's on tv and has golden globes.

That's just Gaga giving herself a pat on the back. An artist can be a celebrity. They are not mutually exclusive terms.

no, she said that during the ARTPOP era when talking about the eternal inferno of pop culture. i didn't say that there is no difference between celebrities. i'm just saying that this is how she perceives herself and i agree with that.

I understand what you're saying. She's so full of contradictions. It's so confusing for me. I agree that, in a way, she seemed smarter back in 08/09 because she was more grounded and hadn't been famous for so long. I get the impression sometimes that now she has lost her ability to relate to the average person because her life experience is so different from ours. I find it quite ironic for someone, like Gaga, who has based much of her career around imagery, to say "if you take a photo that a moment "dies." " It is hypocritical of her to say that, because she is photographed constantly with other celebrities and posts them to Twitter and Instagram. I feel that she is trying to blame her 'fame' for her discontent and sadness, when there might be another reason.

"Take my picture, Hollywood. I wanna be a star." -Lady Gaga at the Grammys during Fame era. Performance art or not, the Gaga who said this understood fame, embraced it, and embraced the demons that came with it. This Gaga (2016) may be more in control of her music and her vision, but for her to have such frustration with 'fame' makes me worried. I am concerned she will continue to back away from her fanbase and touring in general because she feels she is being used by her fans. When in reality, most of her fans genuinely love her as a person, and really aren't trying to use her for personal gain.

She's just delusional then. I can't blame her because the stereotype of what a celebrity is...no one wants that but unfortunately that title is permanent to her name until the day she dies. There's nothing wrong with being a celebrity at all. You can be a celebrity that's also an artist like Mariah Carey, David Bowie, Barbra Streisand, Liza Minnelli, etc. gaga falls under the same category as those people. It's better than just being a celebrity that's only famous for taking photos of her ass like Kim Kardashian.

That doesn't really answer the question of whether Gaga is a celebrity or not. The fact that she views herself as an artist, doesn't mean she can't be a celebrity.

Celebrity: "someone who is famous, especially in the entertainment business". Unless you're implying that Gaga isn't famous enough to fall into that category, I don't know what you're getting at.

she's just viewing herself and pop culture form her own perspective, that doesn't make her delusional. i'm guessing you're right in that she was thinking of kim kardashian and the likes when making the distinction between celebrities and artists. it's a stereotype, yes. so what? what matters is how she perceives herself. you know her: she's a rebel. if the world is telling her that she is a celebrity, a term that is usually/stereotypically used in a negative context, she's gonna do everything to prove the opposite.

who do you want to answer that question?

gagz? she views herself as an artist and tries to distance herself from being perceived as a celebrity. i don't recall that she ever said that she is not a celebrity, but her stance on that is quite obvious. maybe she did explicitly said that and i just don't remember. look it up, if you're hung up on that.

me? i don't view her as a celebrity.
