It was the case for anaconda, call me maybe or gangnam style. These songs all were huge hits because their video went viral. But was Bad Romance the first song to get this kind of effect? Before gaga, music videos were boring as hell for a majority of artists. The style of the BR video was also very unique and different from the mainstream at the time. Why do you think Katy has so many views on her videos whilst Gaga (who has only released 2 music videos in nearly 5 years) has few in comparison? So yes, Bad Romance to have nearly 700m views for a video released in 2009 is pretty insane! In 2009, a video that reached 100m was a huge success. In my messy era.
