PopThatArt 2,193
So I keep hearing things like Mark Ronson brought back funk. But I find this erroneous. In 2010, CeeLo Green released his Lady Killer album with featured writing by Bruno Mars and production by The Smeezingtons which Bruno is a part of. People say uptown funk brought back a resurgence in funk. But I don't think so. CeeLo Green released Lady Killer in 2010 and the funk infused F*uck You, radio version Forget You totally smashed. As did a number of tracks from the album. So is Mark really that great? Is Gaga confused? Is Bruno responsible? What about CeeLo Green? He recently released Heart Blanche which I find to be a great album, under the radar, but great. Est. 1980s in my fave song on the album. What do you think of CeeLo? PopThatArt 2,193
You have to look up F*CK YOU by CeeLo yourself. GD won't let me post it. Or Forget You either. Go see A Star is Born
Mark 4,065
People say BS all the time, Lady Gaga is part of the people too. What does Gaga say? Spoiler Hahahaha. jk. At this point in time, the one who does it more recent is credited. I think that's just how it works. 00026 † 10000
Bradley 59,040
They all contribute to some extent, but Mark's contribution was pretty significant imo.
weed 73,790
He did it in 2010 but did it crossover to any other artist? If Gaga does it then many others do, then we can say she brought it back. For not then she's just doing ha own thing imo
Warholian 6,880
Ronson isn't a funk artist, Uptown Funk and much of his latest album was just an exploration of the genre. There's no reason to believe Gaga's going funk with Ronson, it could very well be more jazzy or R&B. But, personally, I barely find "**** You" a funk record. Uptown Special is straight from 1973. Kevin Parker, Mac Demarco, Mark Ronson, and a stoned Lady Gaga. Need I say more?
Nemo 4,291
I think CeeLo is a dirt bag, but that has nothing to do with his music,
Cheap thrills 1,282
But uptown funk is one of the best selling singles so maybe it was just noticed more and mark was given more credit.
FGGrayson 9,670
His band Gnarls Barkley use to be so ****ing cool, and it was before Mark 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗚𝗮𝗴𝗮 • 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗲 • 𝗦𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗲-𝗘𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗼𝗿 • 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀𝗼𝗻
LilVenusian 579
That Cee-lo song was a bop but do you think other artists are really checking for his ass. As for Mark Ronson he jumped on the bandwagon pretty recently (I ain't complaining tho). We all know who actually made funk/disco cool again:
