Am I the only want who doesn't like funk and thinks it doesn't fit Gaga?

I know there's many types of funk music, and I do like it when it crossovers with genres like disco, synthpop etc. But at it's purest form, I just cannot stand it. It's so sluggish and...'slimy'. Funk rock is the worst.

It just won't allow for very big and dramatic melodies, and can come off as tasteless. I also don't know how Gaga's going to have any great choreo with funk songs if it goes something like this:

Or anything from this mix:

Not really a fan of funk/disco but I'll try my best.

I love it. Imo she's perfect for it. Yes, it's not great to do choreo with, but I don't care, I'm sick of her choreo's anyway. It was amazing back in 2008/09 but the second she gave up her persona self she just became a girl that tried to dance, making her look stupid.

I'm much happier with her getting into the groove of the music and just living it out on stage like we know she can.

But seriously, you didn't like this?

I mean it's like one of her best vocal performances. I'm sure if she goes funk this is the vibe she's going for. Funk with a disco edge. Tho I wouldn't mind her going full funk either, I think her voice is built for it.

Oh but she can't sit on the piano the whole time right? :saladga:

Not having choreo for this era would be taking out a huge aspect of what many fans love about Gaga.

You sure this is funk?

It's more disco, and I said I like it when it crossovers with disco.

I'm not a fan either really, but I'm just really excited to see what Gaga does! I have faith in her that I'll enjoy whatever it is she makes, because she puts a 'Gaga-spin' on things. Tops it off with her unique flavour!

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

She wasn't even playing that piano really :chica: Look at her hands closely. She's faking it. Just imagine her dancing around freely across the stage during that. My imagination thinks it marvellous :flutter:

But I get what you're saying. The fans who value choreo would of course be disappointed. Though I personally think that's a bit narrow-minded. A great performance is a great performance, whether it has choreo or not :unicorn:

It will fit Gaga perfectly. It's Gaga after all, she can pull of pop, rock, jazz.. why not a more funky sound? As pointed above, she did a fantastic job with "I Wish".

And I don't we'll be getting any Bad Romance/Judas choreo soon. :laughga: I thought we all knew this gal is gone for good now.

They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.

I would love it if Gaga does music like 'lose yourself to dance' - daft punk

A few funk tracks on LG5 wouldn't hurt, i think she'll still have a good portion of the album in her comfort zone

I think some of y'all are forgetting that she will still have music from old eras during the LG5 ball :laughga:

And also don't forget that:

1. The songs you referenced are old, and all older songs have a dated feel to them. You could pull up pop, rock, anything from that era, compare it to what we have now under the same genres, and it'd sound different. Her funk will be much more modern and crisp and well produced. Think of Uptown Funk with her vocals and her touches added to it. That's even produced by Mark Ronson.

2. Her album isn't going to be solely funk by any means. She always genre blends. She always pushes her producers to do things they aren't used to doing. Just like in her cover of I Want Your Love. It was originally a disco song and she made it sound modern. She added in some rock and electronic vibes too and gave it her own vocal touches, and it turned out brilliant. And that song is just a cover!

Don't worry too much about the funk thing! :)

I'm actually fed up with that sound. I hope she doesn't release another uptown funk (like she did with fashion! aka get lucky).

She used to be innovative and bring a new sound to the table. I'm so not here for some already boring and overplayed tunes (like she did with ARTPOP which was full of EDM songs).
