DiscoHeaven23 35,007
Beyonce's new album, Lemonade, sold 485,000 in its first five days. Being generous, that means she would've sold 530,000 with a full week of sales. Drake is poised to sell over 1 million copies of Views this week. Beyonce is made out to be massive, yet this rapper turned rapper/singer is going to outsell her by double the sales. So what makes Drake a bigger commercial success than Beyonce? Iwontell 7,312
A shlong... ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.
HEARTHUNTER 7,611
Male artists generally sell more than female artists nowadays. I'm not sure if sexism is the right argument but there are other factors playing there, such as Drake being extremely trendy, he released the lead single like last year, the collabs... Beyoncé's release was more of a "surprise" release and it was announced only few weeks before the release. Also let's not forget TIDAL, aka the pandemy that spread in the music industry that also ruined her sales And oh, I forget, this album is controversial and people dislike Bey's controversy. Drake had momentum, he's generally very appreciated, Bey didn't but her release was a huge event and more impactful.
PERFECTIONIST 2,139
he's hot and we all want him I bought his album I didn't buy beyonce's OT: Beyoncé's audience are females and gays and Drake's audience are females males gays and everyone and their moms my hobbies include lying about PI leaking and getting everyone shook on GGD

Edonis 28,950
Beyoncé has a fan base made up of females and gays mainly. Drake has a much wider demographic. Plus Beyoncé kind of just dropped the album similar to the self titled. Just not as top secret.
Haroon 49,685
I don't think there's a specific reason other than Drake having more people into his music enough to purchase it nowadays I wouldn't say it's gender because you have Taylor Swift with multiple albums opening with 1m+ and Adele opening with 3m+. Comes down to actual interest and preference then I guess
The Child 18,997
He is less controversial and he is a male. ‘If religion be the cause of disunity, then irreligion is surely to be preferred.’ ‘Abdu’l-Bahá

Judas Oyster 1,915
He embraces pop culture. New slang too. He's not afraid to try new genres. He killed Meek Mill in a diss and people liked it a lot lately. He's been here for a long time but still keeps it real, you can listen he's still himself in his music even tho he tries new landscapes. Been a fan of him since before Gaga came out with Just dance, and I'm surely not alone. He's a real dude keeping his essence intact since the start on in 2008. So he has both old school fans and new fans bc he's not changed that much. He's been with the same producer 40 Shebib since before his first album out... He has a label, he makes other people shine. He embraces other cultures, and even languages. Hmmm... He talks basket. He sings AND raps. Talking street and gangsta, drugs and séx... but also talking about emotions and feelings... idk, do you need more reasons? 😅 Btw, even tho' I love Drizzy I think the 1 million albums is a little bit high. Perhaps 800.000 equivalent album sales seems more realistic to me, but we'll see.
