Video for every song on album-Taken by Beyonce (Album: BEYONCE)

Releases album for free-Taken by Miley (Album: Miley Cyrus and her Dead Petz)

Album Movie-Taken by Beyonce (Album/Documentary: Lemonade)

Obviously I am not certain if they are the first to do such thing but they seem to be the first out of mainstream pop culture (celebrities well-known around the world)

I love how Beyonce constantly tries to make her album releases an experience, even way back to Sasha Fierce, it was the first two disc album I heard, where both discs were different in sound and message, one played with Urban Hip-Hop while the other played on mainstream pop.

What's sad is Gaga expressed the desire to release Born This Way for free back in (2011)

Gaga also expressed the desire to make a video for every song on ARTPOP (there's a video even)

She was also working on an ARTPOP documentary which I perceived to be something along the lines of what we saw in Lemonade

what I am trying to say, is Gaga expressed these ideas way before other artists managed to do them , two things come to mind

1-Why couldn't Gaga deliver on these desires, I see one plausible reason being label rejection, as these ideas a very risky, they have a high-cost and in return can grant a low profit if not supported by the unpredictable public

2-Gaga felt artistically repulsed by these idea at one point and would instead like to stick to the traditional format of releasing albums, knowing that at the heart of the album that's where most of the artistry is apparent

I am so happy for Beyonce and Miley for the way they executed these visions they had and wish that LG5 could revolutionize music releases to some extent

Take this in a lighthearted way, I know Gaga is still capable of showing much more artistry

But on a more serious what's left :toofunny:

These come to my mind

-Virtual Reality Album (would be stunning but won't happen till 2030 lol, I don't think the GP have access to a VR headset yet)

-Album released as weekly TV show episodes (don't know how that will work)

-Video Game Album

Thoughts ?

Phoenix

all these things were done before beyonce or miley, it's not anything new or revolutionary

Gaga should just stick to classic and normal release a.k.a. release a good lead single with a video, and then release the album in a month or so, follow it with few other good singles with videos ofc.

but now is not the time to experiment heavily with the type of release , she needs to do something that will be clear, precise, and to the point of perfection . She can still do something diff , but not anything extreme that wil  leave people scratching their heads again like with ARTPOP. LG5 should be classic but epic with the music .

Idk personally i don't see a special need for always being outstanding with uncommon album concepts..
as long as Gaga puts out new pop music within my lifetime I'm fine with that.

Maybe she could team up with Youtube and release a 360-music video? She would also release a normal MV version at the same time so everyone can see it. I'd live for it but it seems that 360* technology is still very unstable.

Ok, one person did one thing. But nobody did the three in the same time :hor:

Gaga could release LG5 à la BEYONCE, free, accompagnied by a film documentary.

I'm not being realistic I know :unicorn:

Miley

Well obviously something no one, not even we (forum members) has figured out.
She probably will, and then we'll all go like "Damn. Genius!"

Mythos

She should just do what she wants, and just be 100% behind it. Don't want another ARTPOP Era,ohh, and maybe less talking, but that's just me :derpga:

U2 did the free album thing before Miley and apparently a lot of indie artists have dropped albums without warning before Beyonce too.

If anything, these people have all tested the waters for us...and we've found that it isn't the best idea. I remember thinking way back when Gaga was talking about a free release that it would be so awesome, but after U2 (even with putting their album out to literally hundreds of millions of itunes users whether they wanted it or not) didn't make a cultural dent with their album, it really put me off the idea. I think giving people the full experience all at once means the album won't actually be remembered in the long run either. We remember Beyonce's self titled because its been less than 3 years but in years to come, is the public really going to remember all these songs? I doubt it, because it wasn't a traditional release with singles, which stick in the public's memory. So far, Beyonce's album has been the only one that's actually proved a success by having a surprise release and giving everyone everything at once. Every other artist has been crashing and burning with the idea. Gaga should just stick to traditional releases. History has shown it's the best way. It won't feel good if you make history for releasing an album unusually if the downside is that no one remembers it in the future as there wasn't a proper era to define it.

She doesn't need to do anything like this. I don't feel like it's necessary to have a non-traditional release just for the sake of it. Beyonce's self-titled release had the impact behind it - it created a moment because the idea of dropping an album out of the blue (especially from someone as big as Beyonce) was practically unheard of. That was part of the sale. It would be impossible now for an album to be surprise released and have that same power, because it's been done before. This doesn't mean surprises can't be exciting and successful, but Beyonce took that moment that no one else will be able to have.

Miley's free release made sense because it was quite an experimental/risky album, and likely would've flopped if it had a commercial release. It suited the vibe of her new direction to just put it out there. I don't think that this would really work for a big pop album.

Honestly, if ARTPOP taught us anything it's that Gaga shouldn't try her hand at unnecessary gimmicky projects alongside her music. The app, Volantis... Who cares? Her main priority should be to make a great album. Having non-traditional releases like Beyonce, Rihanna and Kanye have all had lately are fun but I don't think she should try it for the sake of it. Especially at this point in her career, because it could easily fail.

I guess my basic point is that she shouldn't try and do something for the sake of it being "boundary pushing" or "innovative". She should do something like that if it makes sense with the whole project and can be executed well. But I'd much rather she has innovation in her music.

Release an album with the title, The Artist Formerly Known as Lady Gaga.  Oh,wait, never mind.

Rent a flatbed and take a trip from Harlem through NYC singing your first single freaking out people in NYC and then end up by the Brooklyn Bridge giving a free concert to thousands who were running there, to showcase your new album the day it dropped  Oh, wait  Done.

Drop a surprise album out of the blue.   Nope, done several times.

I got it.  Drop an album, and with it a free disc 2 having all acoustics of disc 1 or alternate versions of some, and a couple of bonus tracks..  U2 did it with their last album, the hard version.  I have to say I play the second disc a ton and made me buy the album, for disc 2.   They did 2 bonus tracks that were high quality.  They did maybe six acoustic versions of Disc 1, and not overproduced.  They were live sessions.  They did two totally alternate versions of two songs off of Disc 1.  And they had a hidden track not listed at the end that played after some silence.   So Disc 2 was a full disc, 11 songs total

Gaga is genius at acoustic versions and alternate versions, and that will make this album sell like it's on fire. Some people are drawn to her acoustic versions more than her dancier versions.

I said this before back when U2 did this that Gaga should do this, because she is such a great piano performer and strong vocalist.  It was just a bonus for the fans .from them because the main album was free on iTunes.  But it was the most creative they had done in ages and it had a rawer, looser sound on Disc 2.  And fans loved it.

Gaga's fans would eat this up and the general public loves a deal.  And nobody has done that in the pop world.
