This is not about them not loving their child or not wanting it. And I don't feel as though they are being racist. When one half of a gay couple decides to have a biological child, a lot of the time they want the child to resemble their partner as much as possible. And it's not like they are giving this child up for adoption or something. I'm sure they still love it. If this women's partner had been black and she requested sperm from a black man and received sperm from a white man by mistake, I'm sure nobody would be bringing up race.... Nicole 1,809 Posted April 26, 2016 Share Posted April 26, 2016 It's a very unfortunate situation but I don't think it's racist, the parents of the girl said themselves "that although she and her partner love the little girl, she is concerned about bringing her up in a white, racially intolerant community, and in a white "often unconsciously insensitive" family". It's like adopting a black child into a white family, you can't just adopt and expect it to be like raising a white child in a white family. I can completely understand their concern with not being prepared to face the issues of racism their child will face when they haven't faced racism themselves and did not expect to when they received the sperm (and no, the discrimination from being lesbians is not the same thing).
