Omg, absolutely and whole heartedly disagree. There were many many others that did it combined. She was partly succesful because it was coming back, she did not bring it back and even less so with 80's fashion trend. Gaga is more of a avant Garde costume type than a trend setter. Which is good, its different.

I'm not necessarily speaking about the influence on other artists but rather the over exaggeration of users on this site saying how "massive" she is in America... She's not. Out of all of my friends, family, etc... I'm the only one who knows her by name.

Your right. That's crazy, she's not huge in America.

You do realize that creative directors drive these artist's style, performances and videos. Just like producers will have similar sounds when they work with different artists, creative directors will be influenced by other artists when they work with pop stars. Do you really think Beyonce was the one who came up with that opening? :air:

Also, your examples are VERY weak. The Beyonce one was very influenced by Kylie but is NOT copying and the Britney Spears and artRAVE example actually makes me chuckle :air:

So what your saying is the Pop artists have no say in what they do and the creative directors copy each other. Cool. Then Bey's, Britney's and Gaga's creative director copied or were influenced by KM's Creative director. You do realize that you validated my point?

Lol were you also a juror on the People vs O.J?

I think it's also worth mentioning Cher & Kylie ultimately influenced the synth pop dance electronic flavor of Confessions on the Dance Floor by Madonna and In the Zone & Blackout by Britney.  But Madonna and Britney won't admit that.

What are you talking about? Lmao, Britney doesn't need to admit anything since Toxic, her most successful single of In The Zone was intended to be a Kylie song but she turned it down.

The point is that Keri, Nelly & Timbaland were all following the R&B/hip-hop trend of the early 2000's. Let's not pretend like that wasn't the biggest music genre at the time. Gaga really had the first dance-pop SMASH of the 2000's, at least in the U.S. since I consider Cher a part of the late 90's and she didn't have a strong follow up hit. (I love Cher though omg). Kylie has never really been relevant in the U.S. at all and Madonna was blacklisted by U.S. radios. On the other hand, Gaga brought back something new & her along with the BEP really reintroduced a whole culture/style to the U.S.

What about Toxic, wasn't it a dance pop song? and Hung Up?

Influenced, again. Some pop stars do, yes, but more so collaborate. Gaga is an exception, she takes more creative control over her work.

Toxic was not as big as Just Dance in their prime. Legacy wise, I think it's a different story. It was also not followed up by an equally successful Single of the same genre. Madonna was not even being considered in the U.S. in 2005. Ageism really affected COADL here.
