Awareness  of a rule, doesn't necessarily mean that it is any more or less a suppressive rule.

The goal of a democracy should be to remove as many barriers as possible to the voting process. Maximum efficiency, maximum accessibility, maximum transparency, maximum integrity.

That's why we need this election to be a third party winner. If it's Hillary vs Paul Ryan vs The Donald Party vs The Birdie Party then we need to **** the establishment and vote Trunp of Bernie or even Stein!

I don't disagree, but you're inventing barriers that don't exist to justify some position.

Justify some position? I literally have been saying the same thing the entire time.

"The goal of a democracy should be to remove as many barriers as possible to the voting process. Maximum efficiency, maximum accessibility, maximum transparency, maximum integrity."

I would be equally disappointed that someone was unable to vote for ANY reason at all, for ANY candidate. Whether it is because of a marriage-name change, an affiliation switch, a deadline change, a polling location change, a change of political heart mid-election season. Any reason I respect equally because I believe in democracy

Leave Lebanon and come help me fix the America, please.

Why does ones location effect their involvement? Trump winning could greatly negatively effect their countries. I'm sure they'd rather deal with Clinton or Sanders or Kasich then Cruz or Trump on an international scale

Having voting locations being closed off on workdays with the nearest one being 2 cities away is a barrier.

Not having information when it's available 24/7 is not, especially when you only have to register ONCE.

What you're asking for is already implemented. As I said, what you want is maximum convenience and minimum effort.

Well, responding to this is gonna take me even further off-topic, but it's worth it.   xD

So, let me just start off with the fact that the US does not have a history of allowing everyone to vote.  Women, minorities, even non-landowners at times have been denied the vote, and while I don't agree that anyone should be denied the opportunity to vote, same-day registration is an absolutely disastrous idea.  What this does is remove any incentive to prepare for one of the most important things you can do as a citizen of your country; choose your future leaders.  Same-day registration gives people who may have seen an attractive candidate the ability to run out and vote for them because they're hot.  Having advance deadlines ensures that those who actually care enough(who are also usually those who bother to be informed about the candidates), vote, and those who vote on whims do not.  And ya know what?  That's a fantastic thing.

You seem to be misinformed.  The goal of a democracy is not to ensure that everyone votes.  The goal of a democracy is to ensure that the government is one elected by the people, that is responsive to the people, and as far as voting goes, that allows everyone a reasonable opportunity to vote.  I could understand being upset about voter registration deadlines if you had to drive your horse and carriage 10 miles out to the local party office only to find you were too late, but if you can't be bothered to do a quick Google search to find out before you turn 18, then you shouldn't be voting.  Period.

Also, just wondering, but your post refers to "we" and "our" when talking about America, but your location says Bangladesh.  What gives?    :P

And we find ourselves at the root. : )

We disagree on the core of it, and I don't think we'll be finding common ground on that front. I strongly believe in the end-goal of having every american vote. I do not support the suppression of voting from any angle.

And in the spirit of that, I'd be thrilled to have you vote on the resolution that would stop my opinion from being made law if you so chose!

This was literally me expressing appreciation of his viewpoint and lightheartedly suggesting he come to the US.  That's all.  Please don't try to start **** when there's no **** to start.

Every single form with deadlines and regulations whether it be voting or enrolling in a school can only be done if the person is responsible.

My parents are immigrants so I was literally the first person to go to college in my family in the US. I SEEKED out info. on how to apply, what to do, who to talk to. I asked people. I went to my counselor. I applied for financial aid, scholarships, grants, based on info. I LOOKED INTO. If you actually care about doing something nothing will stop you from obtaining the information.

Careless people who treat voting as something trivial is the real issue.

So you believe that completely uninformed voters helping choose the leader of the most powerful country on earth is a good thing, then?  I also don't support the suppression of voting.  Missing the deadline to register because you didn't do a quick Google search to find out isn't suppression.  It's you failing to do a quick Google search.  The laws don't need to be changed to protect you from your own ignorance/laziness.

And if you don't mind(because it's gonna bug me if I don't know   xD ), would you mind telling me if you are indeed from Bangladesh?

Not sarcasm lol

I've literally pasted this same sentence, quoting myself, like 4 times now:

"The goal of a democracy should be to remove as many barriers as possible to the voting process. Maximum efficiency, maximum accessibility, maximum transparency, maximum integrity."

When it comes to the process of casting a vote, what you said about convenience is absolutely my stance.

I believe people should expend effort to do their own research on the candidates, and that is on them. The process of casting the vote itself should be described by the quote above. So yes, convenient. We're talking about the specific action of voting. So in that regard, you've nailed it.

No I'm not lol. It was a random click from a long time ago. I can change it.

You're missing my very succinct point.

Of COURSE I want informed voters. I want America to be as educated, aware, involved, civic-minded, engaged with their community, good fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters to each other as possible. My statement has NOTHING to do with my belief on the lengths people should go to be involved, nor the work that they should participate in for the betterment of society.

I'm saying that the specific action of voting, should be as clear, consistent, honest, and convenient as possible. Because other democracies should not be out-democracing (lol) us! We're capable! We're a great nation that can be greater. I have personally never had troubles voting. But there are many reasons that some citizens become unable to vote. I do not like that. I am passionate about civic engagement and whenever I work a get-out-the-vote effort- my goal is to simply encourage more to do so.
