Ziggy 14,169
He's not comparing himself to them. He is showing the black community that he has aligned himself with many of their prominent figures in the past which he has. He's saying, "MLK fought for your rights and got arrested, I was there too. I care." It isn't comparing himself to them so much as letting the black community know that he isn't as much an outsider to the plight as it seems from a cursory glance. Idk how the black community will receive it, but I'm pretty sure that's the point of it. He wants to let them know that he has stood by them in the past when the going got tough and will do so now. It isn't like he super-imposed his face over MLK's at the March on Washington or something hahaha this is just a last ditch marketing effort and nothing to get concerned over. Not THAT many things are problematic and only are if you want to go through them with a fine-toothed comb. Nothing is 100% perfect, but this is certainly not as bad as it could have been. I don't think he's equating his contributions to MLK's. I think what the ad is displaying is that he shares the same values as these people. This ad isn't shocking at all. It would be odd for him not to use his past civil rights activities in one of his ads. I am a Hillary supporter, yet I think this add is great. I actually like Bernie, unlike many radical Hillary supporters, and I do think that either one of them would be a great president. Whispering 18,865
Yikes, his campaign really does believe black people are "low information" voters, don't they? Do they really think black people are going to fall for this mess? "Lord have mercy! Did you know brother Bernie marched with Martin Luther King?? Look at this handout...it has a bible verse! Yes... brother Sanders is a man of Gawd! On Tuesday I'm going to vote for Brother Panders!!" How insulting can they get? I wonder how they will pander to the Hispanic voting block in California? Goosey 3,017
6 hours ago, Morphine Prince said: From April to October 1992, Obama directed Illinois's Project Vote, a voter registration campaign with ten staffers and seven hundred volunteer registrars; it achieved its goal of registering 150,000 of 400,000 unregistered African Americans in the state, leading Crain's Chicago Business to name Obama to its 1993 list of "40 under Forty" powers to be. He joined Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, a 13-attorney law firm specializing in civil rights litigation and neighborhood economic development, where he was an associate for three years from 1993 to 1996, then of counsel from 1996 to 2004. In 1994, he was listed as one of the lawyers in Buycks-Roberson v. Citibank Fed. Sav. Bank, 94 C 4094 (N.D. Ill.). This class action lawsuit was filed in 1994 with Selma Buycks-Roberson as lead plaintiff and alleged that Citibank Federal Savings Bank had engaged in practices forbidden under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and the Fair Housing Act. The case was settled out of court. Final Judgment was issued on May 13, 1998 with Citibank Federal Savings Bank agreeing to pay attorney fees. His law license became inactive in 2007 But this is literally copy-pasted off Wikipedia, which is not a reliable source. Almost all Americans feel the same way, unless you believe Americans are racist by default. He has not spoken at length at all about the current issues African Americans face beyond economic issues. Those are what matter. This simply screams "Vote for me. I supported your civil rights a long time ago, but have no opinion today".Considering there's a Christian quote to the left, I'm fairly convinced this is pandering. Two birds with one stone. A lot of the issues facing black Americans stem from their economic disadvantages. So saying that he hasn't discussed issues facing black Americans is just ignorant. It doesn't scream "vote for me because I supported you" it's screaming "I've been on the right side of history longer than a presidential run. Vote for my record." Which is a key point, because his opponent used to be a Goldwater girl. This kitten over here (meow)

That was literally spun from your own tounge. All this pamphlet does is remind voters that he was, and has consistently been, on the right side of history. I think you need to re-evaluate where the insults are coming from. This kitten over here (meow)
