You do realize that same logic could be applied to your side of the argument, right? Lol...

And Spriderman is a role written for a white male. So was the Human Torch in the Fantastic 4 and they made both of those black (even though the human torch has a white sister....) and you all applauded that. Who the role was originally written for doesn't matter. The best actor/actress should get it regardless of race.

There's actual injustice in this world. "Cultural appropriation" hurts no one, and it promotes globalization which promotes understanding and thus tolerance. Move on.

BOOM!

Love you @MJHolland :)

Love how you finally quote my post once I edited it. And please don't tell me to "discuss like an adult" when you're posting these annoying gifs in all your posts. :wtf: You're obviously not an avid anime watcher nor aren't you educated in any form of mainstream Japanese pop culture. I'm not going to argue with an ignorant "hahaha the asians look white xD" posts when you, among many others, are not avid anime watchers or open minded to the topic of anime at all.

No it does not. But attempting to have an open minded debate with a conservative seems very illogical so there's no point even trying it with you.

You're shutting down loads of points made by others because they may not be fans of anime - which you don't know for sure anyway :emma: If you aren't going to be open to debating with people who don't watch anime then you should've stated so in the OP or something, instead of attempting to invalidate people's posts as soon as they speak up :spin:

Edited or not, I have read and seen it. You just basically called everyone who have different opinions a "tard". Annoying gifs? Nothing annoying, since it doesn't reflect on any users. Except for my last one, because that's meant to be a wake up call for you to stop being useless when it comes to discussing a subject. I have noticed it at all times, you are persistent when it comes to calling out people for having a different opinion.

No one has to be educated for understanding what asians prefer on having what they want. It's easy to understand, it's just we are giving other examples on why Hollywood is doing this. Money, fame and lasting. And no one is saying it's the best thing they are doing. It has been going on for a long while. Creators from the remakes should do something about this problem, not the people themselves. They (the original creators) are letting them do this, only they have by far most power to stop a Hollywood remake project.

"promotes glottalization" my ass :toofunny: not when white girls (who i have no problem with) are wearing dreads/braids and black girls wear something part of their culture and end up getting suspended from school/work due to wearing their NATURAL hair. Cultural Appropriation is a totally different thing and the non-oppressed benefit from it.

Let me add that people who say that they are doing a spin on a tale and that its just another culture appreciating an art aren't understanding that the issue isn't that Americans are making a film from a piece of Japanese art. The issue is that they are casting a white woman and retaining a Japanese name and origin. It is more tolerable if you took the series and cast a white woman to play the lead but change the bane of the character and setting. Don't retain her name as a Japanese woman and pass her as that. Yes, the character is an android and all this other stuff, but her nationality in both the anime and this future film is still going to be considered Japanese. That's what doesn't make sense to me.

It usually is more prevalent in anime where there are characters of different racial backgrounds. For example, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle and xxxHOLIC are two sister crossover series created by CLAMP. Long story short, one series involves dimension jumping, etc. and the other is a supernatural series that takes place in modern day Japan. The characters that are considered Japanese have the typical physical traits of Japanese people (dark hair, eyes, paler skin compared to other Asians) but characters considered "white" have fairer hair, freckles, more diverse eye colors, etc.

You have to look in other series to find it haha. But it is there.

Oh my God. Nostalgia. I was a big fan of both. Especially Tsubasa. :air:

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

Why can't a white girl have dreads or braids?

Irish, Icelandic, northern European girls AND guys were dreading/braiding their hair before they even knew Africa existed. :toofunny:

And even if they weren't, why is it a bad thing that people embrace other cultures? Shouldn't people have the freedom to like what they like?

Your mentality that each culture has their "things" and no one should ever cross over is probably why most crazed religions started. This idea that we shouldn't embrace something new.

It also, funny enough, goes completely against Born This Way, rebirth, finding yourself through experimentation and opening yourself up to new ideas.

Then any NON-French actress playing Cinderella should not have the French name Cinderella.

I mean.....if I name my white kid Ohio does that mean I'm appropriating Japanese culture?

Because in order to understand the outrage over the casting you have to be a fan of anime or the anime Ghost In The Shell in general or overall have some sort of decency to acknowledge WHY Hollywood keeps casting white people to play minority characters. If you're not an avid anime fan, coming in here saying **** like "hahaha anime characters look white cX xD" then by that person's opinion is automatically debunked.

1.) I LITERALLY said I had no problem with white people wearings dreads/braids.
2.) No they were not.
3.) In today's day black girls are being taught that the standard of beauty of European standard of beauty (long blond hair, blue eyes, light skin) so yeah, I can understand why people would be angry over whites wearing things that are culturally meant for People of Color

Yet you would still prefer to quote my previous post instead of my edited post. I obviously corrected myself for a reason.

And yes. If you're going to be debating about japanese mainstream pop culture, then you better be educated to some certain degree and not just "haha i saw pokemon xD they all look white x]"

The way you are describing the bolded part, worries me. No one ever came off like that. Oh well.

First of all what you said was offensive.

Second off, I actually don't like it when tv shows and movies cast characters that do not represent themselves.

Third off, Cinderella is not a person's real name, the original story of Cinderella was called Ashputle which was German.

Fourth, the logic just doesn't make sense. Should a movie about your hero Donald be played by a black man? Or an Asian? Like...no...
