Creyk 17,826
This is so shocking because applause is like a 9/10 song while DWUW is like a 2/10, plus it also doesn't have a music video. Like what even From the Gaga charts discussion thread: Applause U.K: 330,000 Sweden: 80,000 Germany: 75,000 France: 65,000 Denmark: 30,000 Italy: 30,000 New Zealand: 10,000Total: 590, 000 Do What You Want U.K: 400,000 Sweden: 40,000 Germany: 60,000 France: 50,000 Denmark: 30,000 Italy: 30,000 New Zealand: 5,000 Total: 615, 000 At least it's not a big difference

MGC 226
With applause, Gaga played it safe. While DWUW is a powerful song and it anticipated a trend which exploded in 2014/2015. It' s a shame it has been left to its destiny because of Gaga blackout. She could have kept it simple, make another video a LA TEOG and save ARTPOP. That song was bound to be a success and it did, partially.

PopThatArt 2,193
It doesn't mean it's a better song or that it's good. And Gaga most often sells more outside of America. Go see A Star is Born

The Child 18,997
Do What U Want is the best song of the album, it should have been the lead! Don't you dare saying it's a 2/10, it's a 20/20! The GP clearly loved it more than Applause. ‘If religion be the cause of disunity, then irreligion is surely to be preferred.’ ‘Abdu’l-Bahá

I'm sure she could have come up with something if she tried, even a simple video of her dancing around in no make-up would have helped.

To be honest, if gaga made a simple video without the rape innuendos, it would have saved the era a bit. Like, idk, keep on being naked in paper journals if that's what you want.
