As she enters her second era, Meghan has solidified herself (wether we like it or not). "No" is a big success. It's a generic pop bop that the radio loves. Meghan is crossing that line between a new artist who's having great success at the moment, into an A-level (success wise) solidified pop girl. And this got me thinking. She's kinda at that point now where Katy Perry was in 2010 when she released "California Gurls". In fact, their careers were quite similar during their freshman eras as you'll see below: One of the Boys I Kissed A Girl: #1 Hot N Cold: #3 Thinking of You: #29 Waking Up in Vegas: #9 Title All About That Bass: #1 Lips Are Movin': #4 Dear Future Husband: #14 Like I'm Gonna Lose You: #8 They're both family friendly singers who really don't have a demographic, perhaps moms and children are their biggest supporters though. They're also both purely pop oriented. Do you guys see the similarities? Katy Perry's pretty much been absent since Meghan Trainor's been famous, so I wonder if Katy's career will be affected by Meghan's presence at all. The only song that was out when Meghan was around by Katy was "This Is How We Do" and that song failed on the charts. Hmmm... Careful Katy, Meghan might be stealing your career.
