I think she's making music that makes her happy, and that's all that matters.

Beyoncé's self-titled album is GOLD, but I honestly think that she's one of the most overrated artists ever. She's so perfect that it's boring. Gaga will know how to mix commercial success with aclaim, but I don't think she cares that much about sales this time...

Did you mean Drunk in love has better quality than Chandelier?

No, but I do think 95% of Sia's songs are designed to cater the radio.

Man, some people's obsession with the #1s is annoying. This brings nothing. TFM has 0 no.1 and is her best era so far, isn't it? Gaga's success was the wow factor, her obsession with the fame and how she made everyone else's fashion, videos and all look basic and uninspired. Her performances were a talking point for weeks. But she skyrocketed because she was smart to bring so many new and original things to life. She was unstoppable.

Her path to success became her curse as well, though. Since day 1 she was not only this dazzling (later baffling) performer, she was an immense talent but that went largely unnoticed and ignored at first.  She "spent" 3 albums to discuss one major theme - the Art of Fame. She became a master of this but the public was tired of her, especially during ARTPOP. And you're wishing her to return to this style? I don't think that's possible. Not after ARTPOP - we still remember the humiliation she went through. For me ARTPOP has her most aesthetically pleasing visuals, it's my fave no matter what. But was she wildly original? No. After BTW she went back to TF/TFM territory thematically and the public had seen it already. And because her talent wasn't the main focus from the beginning, she was dismissed, written off and labeled as flop, has-been, etc.  She has spent the last 2 years to remind the world that she isn't simply a costume and possesses big talent. I don't think she will scratch all this just to put the costume on and please the radio for that no.1. You better get ready to get out of your comfort zones, casue I bet Gaga is once again preparing to push boundaries in music. And that's her key to success. Always changing, not repeating what was successful. :flutter:

Lol I never said JT and Beyonce flopped miserably with ALL of their singles. I was referring to their general musical character and career inclination.

I love how y'all praise my king JT but TKO, Tunnel Vision, Take Back The Night were not as successful as you think. Also most artists usually release 5 to 6 singles from one album, JT stops at 3 and barely promotes them (except for Mirrors and Suit & Tie).

jt had a really good 2013 tho take back the night was fairly big here I heard it on the radio quite a bit and Not a bad thing was on the radio all the time and in our charts for ages and he was also on holy grail that year so I thought it felt like jt was great at releasing multiple singles he had 5 fairly big hits here that year. I want Justin to come back to knock Justin Bieber off his perch tbh I get what ur saying but i hope gaga focuses on everything with lg5 during the fame and the fame monster era all her singles were great quality innovative cool songs and she had so much attention to detail with all her props costumes styles everything people brought into the unstoppable cool Gaga brand which she lost during born this way and ARTPOP she became confusing and not consistent and her music was of less quality. JT and Bey both focus on quality but they lack that extra star quality gaga had 6 years ago. If gaga focuses on quality it wont be enough she needs consistent styling and relatable styling aswell that fans and the public can emulate she needs to be cool and relaxed with her approach again and intricate with btw and ARTPOP everything seemed rushed and really odd.

I just have this feeling that Gaga doesn't want to be commercial anymore.

ffs she wants... what's the point of being a singer if you don't want your music to be popular :saladga:

You're simplifying it to the extreme.

i love how you choose a song meant to be a club smash out of her entire criticaly acclaimed self titled album

speaking of beyonce's discography, her latest songs are trash... sorry, but she is making those trap songs, whispers or speaks through the whole melody... she has an angelic voice and she should use it in her new songs.. also she hasn't done any bop lately, like crazy in love, why dont you love me....

They might be, but catering the radio doesnt make them bad

I think she is going for both acclaim and commercial success this time.

She definitely wants to be commercial! She tried not being commercial with ARTPOP and personally I think she planned the entire era.

I strongly disagree. In Gaga's case, she needs hits, she has zero hype from the GP. :laughga: And don't give me SB, Grammy, Oscars, AHS, CTC, etc because those won't convince the audience to buy her next album. She needs commercial success to spread her message and what she wants to say with the next album. There's a reason she puts effort into albums, she wants people to listen to it & feel impacted by it. The GP doesn't take there time to go on iTunes & search for a Lady Gaga album. They hear songs on the radio & see if they like it. And Gaga can still make good music & still have success. Some people just assume all popular music is bad, but you can still have a good song that becomes popular. I can care less about what the critics have to say, it doesn't make an impact on the world. I think Gaga & her team will do anything to get some hits this era. She's working with hit producers & admitted she's writing in a relatable style. She also said she wants to prove that you don't have to be 19-21 to get a hit.
