jk but seriously, when it comes to ARTPOP, the design is more understandable as a rule breaker since that was the album was, almost like the Dadaism movement. she was putting the ART first, trying to make ARTPOP a movement, style and message in itself

the message of ARTPOP as a whole (and the movement it could HAVE been) can excuse the lack of design rules but at least it didn't have a gradient fill

Just because you do a course on graphics doesn't mean you know exactly what makes a good cover. It's all down to opinion, surely? 

I don't mean to sound bitchy by the way, it just reminds me of a friend I have who takes music technology. She's always saying how most song are bad down to poor production, even though they're clearly made to sound that way. She thinks that because she's learnt about how different tracks are layered together, that's how it should always be

Jeff Koons designed the whole album cover? i thought he was responsible for the sculpture and blue ball

but there are rules to good design and there are certain things that come together to create great design. you could say it comes down to opinion but if you really look into it, it becomes obvious what is and is not good. you can't just throw out a piece of text here, some photography there and maybe a lens flare () and state "well i think it's good", the design world doesn't work like that 

and if it was Jeff Koons that did it all/ the most part, it would certainly explain the artistic approach as opposed to a design approach, which i said before, does work with ARTPOP and it's sort of "anti" message.

it's okay... I still think it would look better zoomed all the way out.

Maybe? It could be a really iconic album cover, and as @Strigoi mentioned, it kind of reminds me of Abbey Road, which is one of the most iconic album covers of all time. 

Personally, though, I'd maybe change the outfit.

because it's adele 

if you don't know who adele is, you have to be totally disconnected from society lmao, she's already an artist that can get away with no name and no title, literally everyone knows and recognises her  now thats slayage

just think, if she hadn't of had 2 hugely successful albums before that, and she went with just the face and no info, it would either be a bit of a shitstorm like "who is she?! whats her name?!" or nothing at all cus theres no info to spread... because it's just her face
