i want to say yes but the graphic designer in me says no for three main reasons:

1. there's no title so no information for the GP/newbies to recognise what album it is

2. lady gaga (and other very popular artists) can get away with this but there's no artist name

3. that outfit and look has a much better scenery out there to go with it. if this was album cover potential, i know there's a place out there that contrasts more beautifully

ever since i started graphic design i can't help but see the good, the bad and the ugly

GloZell Green

I like the concept but I would need it to be executed better so that I like it.

As for #1 the album title would be called Warning Explicit Beauty.

#2 Gaga shouldn't put her name on albums I think... Unless it just says GAGA... leave out Lady.

#3 I agree. I just love when artists have imagery like this because it shows that the focus is on the music.

1: if the text on t-shirt was bigger (maybe a closer shot or something) then YAS go for it

2: i think she's at a stage where she MIGHT get away with just Gaga but that would have to accompany a whole "gaga" era to work, otherwise i don't think she can get away with an artist-less album cover yet

Iwontell

I like it, but she gets clocked for so much less than this...it's too risky.
I like the photo she took during the 2016 Vanity Fair Oscar after party...it was sort of unplanned as well and the result is much prettier...

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

I like it, but not as an album cover (which lasts forever and will never be forgotten)

yeah unfortunately, that's not good album design :toofunny:

amazing album and yeah, it sold very well but that typography? that gradient? gaga pls

the special edition is what it should have been because it was nice black and white, bold, simple typography that designers live for

i hope whoever designed this is now fired because it really did lower the opinion of critics

Would seem kinda cool to have something really chaotic like her standing in the middle of day to day life. Makes a statement.

But we BARELY had lady gaga written on ARTPOP it was a background shape.

and how well did that album do? :green:

jk but seriously, when it comes to ARTPOP, the design is more understandable as a rule breaker since that was the album was, almost like the Dadaism movement. she was putting the ART first, trying to make ARTPOP a movement, style and message in itself

Spoiler

i hope that designer got fired too :usrs:

the message of ARTPOP as a whole (and the movement it could HAVE been) can excuse the lack of design rules but at least it didn't have a gradient fill :unicorn:
