Vodka 4,478 Posted April 1, 2016 Share Posted April 1, 2016 Spoiler Sure not much is really going on in a physical sense, but I'm not too sure that it's necessarily about that with this track (even if it's a song with heavy sexual-innuendos). Alright, so we've got: a pitch-black background, sheets, some dice, and Rihanna emoting as she robes and disrobes herself. We've also got swinging lights and a different transitional movement of video frames, it's got this theatrical quality to it. I'm thinking that the track is showing more of how Rihanna is feeling inside of her own thoughts and how she's feeling in that space. And at the end how she just kind of disappears after everything. I like the video a lot. I love it. I find it mentally-stimulating (aside from all the body that is Rihanna ). I think it's a creative, yet subtle way of telling the track's narrative. I wish it was coloured tho, Those screenshots we got the other day were more promising and the B&W killed part of the sensuality. Red light, yellow light, blue shadow, red dress, balck costume - it would've been way more expressive. But I like it anyway, it is very close to my own video I had in my mind when I am listening to the song. I am imagining her in a studio late at night. Yellow dimmed lights, she's sitting on the couch. Trying to soothe the pain with alcohol and smoking. And then there're lots and lots of smoke. She is playing the guitar during the third verse and her boyfriend emerges from the smoke under the light (she is hallucinating) and at the end of the song as she approaches him, the smoke falls apart and she is alone again with her guitar, the weed, and the memory of him. The part where she's standing up with that hair amazing. I still don't know why BBHMM, American Oxygen, and FourFiveSeconds were not on ANTI. Work and Kiss It Better follow right up with the R8 singles. Still, I thought it was bad on the record label to not put them on the album. They definitely still have that feel of ANTI. Actually you can slap a video of her twerking on the song and it would still be awesome because this song is BOSS. Seriously though, the visuals is a great compliment to the over-all mood of the song. It's very sensual and I think it's really nostalgic.
