Guest
In a remarkable victory that PETA and animal advocates have spent years working to achieve, the Armani Group has announced that it will no longer use animal fur in any of its products starting with the 2016 fall collections. Giorgio Armani explained in a statement that the company’s decision was based on concern foranimals and the environment: “I am pleased to announce that the Armani Group has made a firm commitment to abolish the use of animal fur in its collections. Technological progress made over the years allows us to have valid alternatives at our disposition that render the use of cruel practices unnecessary as regards animals. Pursuing the positive process undertaken long ago, my company is now taking a major step ahead, reflecting our attention to the critical issues of protecting and caring for the environment and animals.” Some of the many tactics that PETA and its international affiliates have used over the years to convince Armani to go fur-free have included provocative protests at the company’s flagship store in Milan and around the world, as well as avideo exposé narrated by Gillian Anderson. It seems that the Armani Group has finally learned that animals are friends, not fashion. Finally a major PETA victory. Maybe now people will stop saying stuff like "PETA is only about useless controversies." Here's to others following Armani's AMAZING decision to not wear tortured lives. Pop 4,541
i approve of fur that is a byproduct of the meat industry. it's not feasible to throw away perfectly good fur when the animal is already killed for food. anyway, the chemicals and the waste related to pruducing such quantities of faux fur will probably kill more animals than killing for fur did. The only issue is that a lot of animals that end up being worn are animals that aren't eaten. At least not in most countries. That's why many animals get raised on lands that used to be forests (which is extremely bad for our environment), have to spend all their lives in cages only to be killed violently and thrown away. According to the documentaries that I have watched and articles that I have read, the meat is not consumed in most cases. Correct me if I'm wrong, though! DrewStevens 5,249
Great. But PETA shouldn't take the credit, their tactics have never worked and this isn't the exception. If anything is a victory for animals. Now it is better to be on the side of the minorities than against them. They are delusional if they think they are the ones who achieved this. Goosey 3,017
Well, I hope they mean "fur-free", including fake fur. I won't buy any products with cheap imitations. There's no point sullying the brand with such materials. "I am the world's greatest person that does not want to let people into the country."—US President Donald J.
