We don't need her to justify her hate and hateful rants and controversies, especially if she doesn't mean it and it doesn't matter anyway. I stated my opinion in detail on the other Banks thread. So that's what my post was saying, how did your comment affect the conversation in any other way? Peace out.

What I mean by white gay male privilege is that, yes, gays are a minority with their own struggles, but being white and male gives you access to certain privileges not awarded to other minorities. It's the difference of a news story saying a cute, white gay boy was beat up vs. a black gay boy. One will *likely* be attributed to gang violence, the other will be victimized and sympathized with. The core idea, and this comes from queer theory and feminist theory, not my own, is that everyone has some level of privilege whether that comes from financial wealth, race, sexuality, nationality, etc. What I think AB's talking about is how white gay men think they deserve equal treatment and deserve what they want, an idea which she sees as coming from the assumptions associated with white maleness. That is definitely a generalization, but she can also talk about it from experience. You're definitely right, her problem does not seem to be specifically with gay males as it does with white males. She takes particular pot shots at white gay males, though, because they have a certain minority status. With that minority status, she thinks that no one "deserves" anything, nothing is yours to take. That is something very true to the female and black communities historically. So, like in this interview, she says white gay guys will grab all over (or whatever she said), she means that they feel entitled to do that and that entitlement she has a problem with. It comes from the white male factor, not the gay, but I think it bothers her that there is that entitlement at all from a minority group. I think her opinion on this is a lot more complex than people give her credit for even if they disagree with it. It speaks to a certain awareness of social connections even in spite of the generalizations. Yeah, I don't fully agree with the Kanye comparison because he has produced some truly great stuff that was widely praised while she has yet to. Even then, I find his rants stupid. I have a much better understanding of her perspective now and I appreciate you writing such an intelligent response and addressing all my points, thank you again! I really enjoyed reading what you had to say and I'll most likely be researching these theories next year if I have social studies What I wrote have been my thoughts for a while but I was intimidated to voice them incase it caused an argument or my points came across poorly

DISZKO 787
Not like it would matter but I got my respect back for her, I mean I never doubted her talent it's just her attitude seemed so wrong sometimes but I get her point of view afterall. Still, I don't like generalizing any kind of community or group of people but I get what she means and she is right in many things.
kizurl 1,801
I love how open she is about speaking out and expressing herself. It's so important to realise that she's an artist, not some politically correct figure or 'role model'. She has flaws and are unapologetic about it because it's her art that matters ultimately, not what arguments she's gotten herself into. I've come to realise many great artists tend to speak their mind and not be wary about public perception and this includes deadmau5, Kanye, etc etc. Their open flaws are what makes me respect them as ARTISTs, because they don't take anything other than their ART seriously. I mean Azealia has said it herself she's not here to be anyone's goddess, idol, or role model. She's here to be herself. I root for you. I love you. You, you, you, you. Klou 2,414
I can't at all these people just all the sudden having respect for her after this one interview. Her excuse of being limited in characters is a joke. It's easier for her to spew poison behind a screen. Still love her music and she's so talented, but she isn't fooling me.
