Guest
I've noticed since Gaga turned her back to pop music after ARTPOP era and focused more on redefining her image that there is a growing number of people at an older age (especially from the older generations who grew up with the legendary Rolling Stones, Beatles etc.) that started liking her performances publicly and acknowledging her talent in a more sustainable way. (Maybe those persons usually tend to critisize that today's pop music can't be compared qualitatively to what they where used to hear at the radio back then) Just take a glimpse at the comment section below Gaga's FB photos. There are hundreds of people from that generation who admire her and pay recognition to her enormous talent. After watching the public reception at US appearances that redefined Gagas image of the GP such as the Oscar's, NA, Grammys and many other tributes, I recognized that Gaga is still seen as the excentric pop freak by the older generation of the GP in countries across the world despite native English speaking countries because her controversial appearances reached the individuals all around the globe in a more imprinting way that caused certain emotions which millions of people are still associating with Lady Gaga. Do you think when Gaga is releasing LG5 that there is the necessity to be less provoking with her controversial (outer) appearances? As this album is probably the most important in view of her prospective career as an worldwide mainstream artist she's not only managed it that a huge part of the GP changed its opinion about her since C2C came out but also that a massive new target group is actively susceptible to her artistic creations, beliefs etc. However, such an "LM-Fanbase expansion" could lead to that effect that Lady Gaga is viewed as old-fashioned or not trendy anymore by the younger audience. So is the balance of controversialness the right way to express herself in order to adress both groups? In my opinion Gaga has undoubtedly the potential to be the peak of pop music industry and achieve the global status of being a living legend such as Michael Jackson. Obviously there is no flawless recipe to achieve that status but I have a feeling that Gaga is closer to it than ever before.

I'm 72 and have been a fan since 2010. I know that there are many fans older than myself, some in their 80's and 90's. One of the things that appeals to older people is that Gaga is a genuinely nice person who helps people. Her great talent across genres broadens her appeal. Musically, I like her jazz the most. Pop music is way down on my list of genres, but I think many of her pop songs are extraordinary. With LG5 I hope she finds a way to appeal to both younger and older fans. If anyone can pull that off, I think Gaga can. It's not so much the music, but the image that could keep a large and diverse fan base. For example, I have a close friend that is still upset about Gaga's antics at a Yankee game years ago. If she goes back to craziness and weirdness, she will probably lose many fans she has gained in the past two years. I live outside the space time continuum. Allan 3,837
Provocation IS necessary, that's the reason why she makes music, isn't it? The deal is what kind of provocation is necessary/she's going to use/she could use. She doesn't need to wear excentric outfits and make controversial performances, even when she sang jazz that was sort of a provocation.
