It's all crazy.

Bernie and Trump actually have alot in common as they represent groups that hate the establishment.

Hillary and Rubio represent the establishment.

I think both parties are in trouble and the people are really pissed right now. In a way, the republicans have already destroyed the establishment of their party: everytime they try and tear down Trump, it actually helps him. He's seen as an underdog.

I think it would have worked wonders for Bernie if Hillary tried to come for him more. He would have been seen as being bullied.

It's working incredibly well for Trump.

It seems the only way to defeat Trump is to be nice to him.

Maybe she should ignore him, not give him a chance to get anymore media attention than necessary.

Oh dear, and so the thread begins to burn.   :rip:

Since everyone is leaving their opinions here, lemme add mine; while I can see Trump's appeal, I don't understand why conservative America feels that electing someone with zero political/public policy/public administration experience is a good idea.  From the viewpoint of a public policy student who has an extreme interest in the furtherance of a viable Republican Party, the closest political experience one can get to that of being president is to be the governor of a large state.  Not a businessman, and not a legislator, but a public administrator.

Unfortunately, a vast majority of US voting-age people, and a large portion of voters, don't realize that candidates with zero public administrative experience making claims about how they're going to "fix our country"(as though that can be done in eight years *rolls eyes*), are spewing empty promises with little real-life experience to back them up.  Is it possible to hire advisers to help you administrate better?  Yeah.  But if you want the job done right(and good God, it's the whole damn COUNTRY, it better be done right!), you make sure you have the skills and relevant experience to personally make sure it gets done right.

Quite honestly, in a perfect system, I'd like to see our head administrator selected from among the 50 state governors, all of whom have real-life public administrative experience, have a public administrative record that can be examined, and who would have to run on that record.  But unfortunately, since our political system has to bow to the idea that "anyone can be president!"(when very few can actually be an effective president), this will never happen.

:tea:

Come for me and call me elitist, please.

That really worked out for us when George Bush, former governor of Texas, was elected... Yeah... Governors don't always make good presidents.

Stand in the light, cast your shadow.

I didn't say all governors make good presidents.  As with the example you just gave, obviously not all governors make good presidents.  However, public administrative experience is key when you're trying to become the head administrator of the US.

I'm talkin' 'bout forever, baby.

He won't. He said that a long time ago. Also, I don't think he would like to split the Democratic vote and hand Trump the presidency.

Oh thanks gawd

It looks like Bernie Sanders is officially done. He has no path to the nomination.

I wouldn't say OFFICIALLY done, but close to it.

I mean I don't think y'all realize that Trump is not as bad as Cruz, tho.

Kasich doesn't have a chance in hell as the nominee. Even if he scored 100% of the rest of every state, Trump would still have more delegates than Kasich. :toofunny:

So.....if you are going to focus on who will takevthe republican nod (and possibly the white House), I'd be rooting for Trump if I was a minority.

Because if Ted Cruz gets it....your ****ED.

Trump might say crazy **** but his actions actually show he is a fairly moderate person.

Ted Cruz is calmer about when he talks about it. But he is ****ING crazy! His actions show how much of a nut job he is! Like if there is any candidate that actually wants to get rid of gay marriage, kick everyone out, defund women's health...it's TED CRUZ....NOT Donald Trump.

Donald is probably the nice guy compared to Cruz. So I don't get why everyone is trying to **** on Trump when someone who is ACTUALLY CRAZY is the one who will get nominated if you keep attacking Donald Trump.

You are aware of how the nomination process/contested conventions work, right?(I don't mean this as a snarky remark; I'm asking genuinely, because you seem to think that Trump has already won, or is close to it, when he's only actually a little over halfway there)  Cruz and Kasich are still in the race because they don't have to win a majority.  All Cruz and Kasich have to do is deny Trump the required majority of delegates and send the nomination to the convention.  Trump may still end up with the nomination, but if they can send it to the convention, there's a good chance that the party leadership will throw their weight behind someone other than Trump, and both Kasich and Cruz have been increasing their poll numbers as they gain more media exposure, as well as doing well in states where they've been able to hold town hall/face-to-face meetings(which is similar to the atmosphere of the convention), so I'm not sure why you're acting like Trump has this on lockdown.  We won't know if he does or not until he passes the 1,237 delegate mark.  It may be difficult to take down Trump, but it's still very possible.

I do agree with you that Cruz is a vastly worse choice than Trump, but that's still not saying much.   :rip:    I'll vote for Trump in the primary if Kasich drops out and it's between Trump and Cruz, but I think I'll vote Hillary in the general election if Kasich's not our nominee.

Even before this election year, it is clear the Republican Party is in full civil war among itself. It has been damaged ever since GWB brought America to its screaming limits at the start of the 21st century, with a major terrorist attack on his watch, two, three unfinished, unwanted, poorly planned, destructive wars, and by the end of his term, America's economy crashed, leaving Obama to pick up the pieces that never quite recovered to its prior status.

The disillusionment and frustration has divided the GOP, like the "tea party" movements in the past. But with Trump, the U.S. Republican constituency is in full rebellion against the establishment. I'm not sure if the party could recover after this and Rubio's failure to connect with voters.

A brokered convention might fracture the GOP party, similar to a lesser degree to how Democrats are fractured between far left (for Bernie) to moderate liberals (for Hillary). Many seem to loathe Hillary in a similar way, but does that represent a difference of values among liberal voters enough to try a fourth ticket for Bernie?

A new USA TODAY/Rock the Vote poll finds a way for Hillary Clinton to solve her generation gap: Donald Trump.

Opposition to Trump nearly unites the rising generation.

In a hypothetical Clinton v. Trump contest in November, voters under 35 would choose Clinton by a crushing 52%-19%, a preference that crosses demographic lines. Among whites, she'd be backed by nearly 2-1, 45%-26%. Among Hispanics, by more than 4-1, 61%-14%. Among Asian Americans, by 5-1, 60%-11%. Among African Americans, by 13-1, 67%-5%.

And the yawning gender gap she has against Sanders would vanish: Clinton would carry young men and women by almost identical margins of more than 2-1.

Nearly one in four Republicans would defect to the Democrats if the GOP nominated Trump against Clinton. Just 7% of Democrats would defect to the GOP.

------------

I don't think Bernie would do a fourth ticket. I believe he cares about the country too much and is concerned about Trump possibly becoming President. He may not be a "party person", but he has values and integrity. (at least, that is the person he has presented himself as)

As bad as people dislike Hillary Clinton,  they dislike Trump even more, hence it works in her favor. She's the sensible, sane candidate compared to hair piece enriched, egomaniac narcissistic honcho. It's a vote against Trump.
