Wow, you need to expand your musical library! Because many people are young and are focused primarily on pop music here. They have limited music tastes. There are also many people here that have a more expanded knowledge of music genres and music history. Maybe some of the very young or musically limited members will check out some of the albums mentioned in this thread? There are many albums mentioned in this thread, from other genres and from more than ten years ago, that are well worth checking out!
XoXoJoanneGaga 629
Since most people are only listing/only listen to pure pop artists, these albums are near masterpieces in that respect ("pop masterpieces"), but none of them are amongst the greatest albums of all time or anything: Revolver, Abbey Road - The Beatles Tapestry - Carole King Bridge Over Troubled Water, Bookends - Simon & Garfunkel Thriller, Bad - Michael Jackson Parallel Lines - Blondie Madonna - Madonna Purple Reign, Sign O The Times - Prince Hunting High & Low - A-ha Songs From the Big Chair, The Hurting - Tears for Fears Dare - The Human League Skylarking, English Settlement - XTC Violator, Some Great Reward - Depeche Mode She's So Unusual - Cyndi Lauper The Dreaming - Kate Bush Whitney Houston - Whitney Houston Control, The Velvet Rope - Janet Jackson Diamond Life - Sade Rumours - Fleetwood Mac The Sign - Ace of Base Debut, Homogenic, Vespertine - Bjork The Fame (Monster) - Lady Gaga Ultraviolence - Lana Del Rey Visions - Grimes Watermark - Enya
Tyler 109
There are some pretty low standards for a 'masterpiece' nowadays, it would seem. At least if this thread is anything to go by. Being a great album doesn't automatically make something a masterpiece. I wouldn't say Gaga has made a masterpiece at this stage and I've loved her since 2009. Kate Bush - Hounds of Love, Aerial, 50 Words for Snow David Bowie - Station to Station, Blackstar Björk - Medúlla, Biophilia

Kate Bush - Hounds of Love, Aerial, 50 Words for Snow David Bowie - Station to Station, Blackstar Björk - Medúlla, Biophilia Well yea, most of the albums listed in this thread aren't even good, let alone great There's always the occasional person with musical knowledge like the post above but 90% of people who browse these forums only listen to "pop girls". Agreed on Gaga, she certainly doesn't have a masterpiece by the broader definition of the word, but as far as the narrower definition of "pop masterpiece" I would say The Fame + Monster fits the bill or at least comes close.
