So has Bernie. He was mayor of Burlington at the turn of its success, ya know...

It was in fact poor wording, see my post in the previous page. Bernie grew up poor, of course he knows white people can be poor. What he meant is that even poor whites have privileges and rights over poor POC.

If I EVER see someone suggest IN ANY FORM that Bernie Sanders "provided jobs" ever again on any level compared to Trump, I'm seriously considering the democratic party completely delusional and out of their mind.

COME ON.

Bernie Sanders lived in a basement in the woods using his dads inheritance until he was over 40.

Don't. Even. Try. Me.

Really?? You all amaze me. Everyone can research Gaga and know every detail of what she does but then believe a fake quote someone posts and not even bother to look it up...

Wait....what is this story? I thought his family was poor. Did he not have a job or live independently until his forties?

You are the one who has innacurate information. You are calling other people out, when you got your information from some Twitter post being passed around...and it isn't correct.

Go to CNN.com and actually watch the clip. You can clearly see and hear that Bernie said the statement that is being discussed here. I recorded the debate, and the statement that is in question is what came out of Bernie's mouth.

What are you talking about? He went to college, ya know, and he was already Mayor of Burlington by the time he was 39, and he had political career at least 9 years before that. He lived in Midwood, Brooklyn, and then Burlington, Vemont, neither of which are in the middle of the woods so idk where you're getting that from.

Okay, thanks. I had never heard about this, so I was wondering. Thanks for clarifying!

Did you even watch the entire thing? People should be talking about his entire message, which is much more important than some soundbyte that twists his words into something he didn't even intend. Its disgusting that this is what people are worried about, instead of the issues Bernie is trying to push. Why are we dwelling on this one sentence when his entire speech has so much more meaning? Its so sad.

Yes, I watched it from start to finish.

People always take sound bites from speeches, interviews and debates.

No one twisted his words, he said them. When a candidate says something like this, people are going to question it.

When a candidate says something like this, people should refer to the rest of the video for context. Not go spouting off about a clip that could mean anything without the rest of his thoughts intact. Posting a fraction of someone's response with no context is in fact twisting someone's words.

Riiiight, like people do that for all these candidates at all times. Come on, now.

Even with context, the statement didn't make sense. It was poorly worded, on several fronts.

I read this ****ing 30 page HuffPost article where they had to literally go ask people that knew him in Vermont because he was off the radar for so long and basically he was married and had a kid, divorced her and left the kid, and inherited a couple hundred thousand from his dad, and went and wrote and read in this house in the woods and ate dirt for like twenty years, never had a job except some random carpentry side work he did, and then was asked to run for office by this local Union Party group because he would walk around town selling philosophy papers he wrote for $35. :toofunny:
