It's a boring-ass song, don't make everything about social injustice... some of ya'll :wtf:

This so much. The only positive thing about that disaster of a song is the dancing in the vid.

I don't actually know, but it wasn't all that successful, was it?

I think it was because the year it was released and the fact that it wasn't that great of a song. The chorus isn't all that great compared to Beyonce's other singles.

I can only speak for where I live (UK) but I feel like despite it not being a massive chart hit, it still feels quite big. It wasn't very popular when it came out but I feel as though it's had a lasting impact. I've heard it quite regularly in TV shows and movies as a typical "girls power" type anthem, and I still hear it quite a lot in (non-gay) clubs and bars. Definitely more than any Gaga song.

And I mean it's platinum in the US despite not reaching the top 20 and it's currently her second highest song on iTunes there, so even though it wasn't a big smash at the time, it certainly has a legacy of sorts...

Because the sample it uses had been happening a year earlier.

In what universe was this a hit in Japan :)...?  The Hot 100 is literally a meaningless chart in that country and since it was never released in CD format over there it never charted on the only chart that matters when calling something a "hit" in Japan, the Oricon...

I just realized that Beyonce hasn't had a number 1 hit since "Single Ladies", which was 8 years ago :toofunny:

EDIT: Number 1 hit on the BB Hot 100
