Till It Happens To You Is Not About The Charts

Ever since it was announced that Til It Happens To You was going to be sent to the radio, all many here cared about was the charts. Many here did not want the song to be released as a single because it was going to ruin Gaga's "comeback" on the charts, while others only cared how big of a hit Till It Happpens To You is going to be. But Gaga did not sent this song on the radio to have a hit on the charts, she clearly stated that she wanted this song to be played on the radio because of its message. Gaga wants people to hear the song so that more people are more aware of the pain people go through due to different painful experiences. So it will be great if TIHTY manages to become a hit, but that is the the most important aspect of its release to the radio.

I agree so much with the OP.

Apparently everyone has turned into a damn little manager.

That is true, but the message is being sidetracked and people are obviously only caring about the success aspect of this release.

I completely agree! I think it's unrealistic to expect too much success or longevity on the pop charts, but we should consider it a success regardless, because the song is helping so many people :) Just like Born This Way

then why is it on sale? a free download would certainly get the message across better

A) Most of the proceeds are going to charitable causes &  B) musicians deserve to be paid for their work, regardless of the message.

TIHTY doesn't really have a message. If it wasn't labeled 'the rape song' it would just be a regular song.

It's not like Born This Way where you know it supports homosexuality.

Putting this song on the radio was just to prepare people for Gagas lead single. Let's not pretend it's anything deeper.

"I pray you will all today put your faith in a song that can set an example to be brave and courageous, through life's obstacles. Through the power of radio, I hope we can remind listeners that they are not alone."-Gaga
