DiscoHeaven23 35,007
It's official. The Sophomore Curse has taken another victim. This time the victim is Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. When Macklemore and Ryan Lewis released their lead single, "Downtown", for their sophomore album at the end of August, it seemed like it could be a potential hit (though could we really call it their song with 4 feature artists?). But alas, while the song didn't completely flop it only reached #12 on the Hot 100, a clear deviation from their two #1's on their first album The Heist (which has sold 1.5 million copies to date). Six months after the release of their lead single, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have released their sophomore album This Unruly Mess I've Made. As we reach the final day of the album's first week, predictions are coming in and they don't look good. Billboard predicts the album to sell 40k copies and with 76% of the sales reported HDD says it has sold 26K so far. That puts it at #3 for the week in top album sales according to Billboard, behind The 1975 and Adele. The album is expected to move 50k total when you add in streaming, which would make it debut in 5th place on the Billboard 200 (the "REAL" albums chart) after The 1975, Adele, Rihanna and Justin Bieber. Welp, there's always the memories guys. Thanks for "Same Love" though! Pablo 7,853
Not surprised. They never really stuck out to me and Thriftstore was quirky so it got tons of attention. Don't visit my profile
Mister Gaga 22,945
Kinda off topic, but i wonder if Meghan and Lorde will end up the same way. Both debut albums were really successful, just like The Heist. Lorde has enough talent to make an amazing album, while Meghan...well, we will see this friday. uo111 5,265
It doesn't help that Downtown was kind of annoying. Those numbers are shockingly low though.

It's relevant cuz i was thinking of asking questions like that at the end of my post. I wonder that for many of these new artists in the last 3 years who have had their first era be very successful. Will they make it? Lorde Meghan The first openly gay man to win an Oscar The Weeknd (it was his first mainstream successful album) Iggy Ariana (i count her last album as her first)

GagaXCupcakke 3,818
It's actually a pretty good album. With the right single choices this album could of sold pretty well. But they focused on the serious songs instead of the fun songs.
