There is absolutely no evidence that shows gun regulation curbs gun violence, and many states and cities that have the most gun control have the highest rates of gun violence. Take Chicago or D.C. for example, and also look at Texas with some of the lowest gun violence rates and the fewest gun regs. The problem is with mental health and inner-city violent culture. Not guns. End of story. But we're the only country with the amount of gun violence we have. This is not a worldwide thing. Other countries do allow gun ownership and such. But we're the only country who has the amount of gun violence we have. If we don't include the middle east countries which are at war with currently. JustinTrudeau 2,419
So many questions However, when I was in high school, I was always told I'm not getting enough sleep cause teenagers need 8/9 hours of sleep (even though I was perfectly fine and never had the desire to shoot anymore in the morning... but I live in Canada, so that might be a factor). I found it annoying because it was hard to sleep when you got so many assignments, part-time jobs, friends, family, and social pressure to deal with constantly Let's not deny that we tell ourselves that we need to go to bed, but continue to browse the Internet for another hour or so. So yea, guns and mental health matters, but student lives are becoming so crazy these days, I don't know how you teenagers survive. Every thing is a factor, so let's not blame only one factor, cause every situation is always an ugly mess. I fell down the stairs once as an actor. The whole issue is a bunch of smaller issues. The availability of guns, the ignorance of mental illness, and the "American way". Other countries pass stricter gun laws and don't have mass shootings for decades while if someone in power even mentions wanting to have a discussion on it you suddenly get an influx of gun related deaths (suicides and homicides). In order to fully tackle this problem we can't just blame guns anymore, regardless of how pointless their existence is. We have to change the way society thinks and reacts to certain things, tighten our belts when it comes to who is allowed to legally own a gun, and make sure to spread as much information as possible. What's your point? If you look at the data, gun ownership =/= gun violence, and gun control does not equal lower gun violence either. That is purely just date. It cannot not be argued with; it's just statistical fact. So when people say gun control is the answer to acts of violence like this, I just have no clue what they're talking about. This attack is a tragedy, but let's not blame it on an inanimate object. It's clearly a mental health case. 5 hours ago, LePetitMonstr said: America needs a reality check ASAP. 5 hours ago, Son of ARTPOP said: WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU, AMERICA? If the French people had more spending on internal security and monitoring the attack never would have happened and could have been stopped buddy?! I'm not a gun nut. Grandfather never owned a gun, father never owned a gun, and I'll never own a gun. I'm only a nut for common sense. When a tragedy happens, you offer your condolences. When a mentally ill person acts violent, you don't blame inanimate objects. Common. Freaking. Sense. Ignore me all you want sweetie, see if I care if you chose to be ignorant. The USA should stop proclaming itself as the "best country in the world", the "center of the universe" and the "land of freedom" and then maybe people would be less critical about them and the stuff that happens in the country. Terror attacks don't happen every day either. Every day/week mass shootings and 'accidental killings' by guns became unfortunately American trademark and it does have to do with obsessive gun culture. It's not only "mentally ill", normal people stress out, get into fight/snap and deal with their problems with - guns. There were (rarely) some school shootings in Europe but some got influenced by Columbine for example. And yes there were many disrespectful comments to French, 'you need more guns!' If we magically took away every mentally ill person in America, you wouldn't have senseless acts of violence like this. So tell me again how it's "BOTH! ". You're wrong on both points. Yes, there would be attacks with other weapons, but a lot of those weapons aren't nearly as deadly as guns. The same day that 26 people died in the Newtown, Connecticut shooting, there was a mass stabbing in China by a deranged man... and every single victim lived and recovered fully. Because he didn't have a gun. To your second point, not every person who commits a horrible crime is mentally ill. Some are on drugs, some are crimes of passion, others are just evil. The rush to assume mental illness after every single shooting is Republicans' way of distracting from the issue of there being way too many guns in this country. And that's how it's BOTH!
