It is both. That's the only way you can argue for gun rights.

Mentally ill people with access to guns are the issue. Incidents like these are random occurrences that don't enter the picture, despite what many anti-gun posters here are trying to do.

There could be more stringent guidance regarding weapon handling though. A handgun should be in a locked drawer or closet at all times, unloaded and with the safety enabled.

It's why I also advocate for stricter testing for gun licenses.

Yes but guns extend their effective range to inflict harm. It also gives them more leverage and power than melee would.

Why would you disagree with extended background checks for gun licenses? Those who are fit to wield them will continue to do so. Why are you defending mentally ill people's right to bear arms when their decision-making is flawed?

It's easier to dodge a knife than it is to dodge a bullet!  Very hard to wipe out a whole movie theater with a knife or any other hand held weapon!  🙄

Guns are more lethal. You can react to someone attacking you with a knife, but if they start shooting at you out of nowhere you cant really do much. Even if you too have a gun for "protection" you will never going to be able to shoot right back, unless y'all are dueling or something.There are mentally ill people everywhere, but ridiculous and tragic shooting incidents are concentrated in the US. How most of the population fails to see this as a problem is beyond me. So maybe it's a cultural thing, cause the mentality about guns in the US is so exotic compared to... the whole world idk.

You can be killed by a gunshot with very little effort on the shooter's side.

You need to put in some effort to kill someone with a melee weapon. Despite what people think, you can't decapitate someone with an axe or a katana.

Guns are the best weapons. Effective at close and mid and far range. You don't get that with any realistic weapon. ven if you did, it takes far more effort than pulling a trigger.

And here's the thing that makes guns the most dangerous weapon ever: they can be wielded by anyone.

You don't need to have muscle or training. Point and shoot. You wanna hurt/kill someone? it's an easy thing. You can't do that with other weapons. Bullets are also nigh unblockable. Not only that, you can kill two people with one bullet.

So you don't mind the fact that the literal best most dangerous weapon in the world can be easily held by anyone?

Yes you can kill people with other weapons, and psychos will still kill with said weapons, but they'll kill less people with that weapon. There's better chance you'll always kill someone while shooting a gun. Swing a sword or knife? You're most likely to just graze someone who's idiotic enough to get close to you.

Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Nevada, Missouri, Delaware, California, Arizona and the District of Columbia all have murder by gun rates comparable to or higher than Tennessee. 

Democratic states have high rates of murder, just like Republican states.

Alright, so tell me again why there is a DIRECT correlation to higher gun control regulation in America and gun violence.

There is absolutely no evidence that shows gun regulation curbs gun violence, and many states and cities that have the most gun control have the highest rates of gun violence. Take Chicago or D.C. for example, and also look at Texas with some of the lowest gun violence rates and the fewest gun regs.

The problem is with mental health and inner-city violent culture. Not guns. End of story.
