The thing that irks me the most about the Oscar loss

I think TIHTY its an awful song so i'm feel relief. If Gaga wins i hope it's with a good song actually written by her

But it's an empowering song written for a social issue.

If Gaga had won, I would like to think of it as a win for all sexual assault victims.

That's nice but it wouldnt. And i dissent about the empowering part, although at least Diane tried.

Not going home with a little golden token of thanks is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

So true.  Also true on an even grander scheme or things.  An Oscar is nothing compared to helping another person, lifting someone up, changing someone's entire life for the better, showing someone kindness.  Multiply that by thousands and you have what Gaga has brought to the world.  It might not be the legacy for which she is remembered, but it is her most important legacy because people matter much more than things.  As great as Gaga is as an artist, she shines even brighter as a person.

I live outside the space time continuum.

It was shocking to me. I thought if she did lose it would be to Simple Song or Manta Ray, not that mediocre Bond theme.

TBH I'm glad she didn't win. There would have been a lot of backlash because of what Linda Perry said. Now Sam Smaith is getting all the backlash and people are wondering how a bad song on one of the worst Bond films ever won and not a song on a powerful documentary on rape. I'm a huge Bond fan and Spectre was pretty bad.

One thing I have noticed on entertainment news shows they tease  showing Gaga a lot and then she's in the last few minutes of the show.  They use her to draw eyeballs.   But this month things have been slowly turning around.  Try to look at it this way though.....she actually won on oscar night.  They can't rag on her for winning, and she garnered a ton of sympathy and respect for what she did on that stage and praise for her emotional performance.  It's like she really moved the audience.  The next day Entertainment Tonight, Extra, The Insider, and Access Hollywood all praised her and gave her a lot of time.  She was one of the  best dressed, and one of the best couples.  She was also the lead story.....or second or third.  That is unheard of these days.  I'm so bummed they lost.  I thought for sure.  But that performance blew me away.

I agree. As much as I wanted Gaga to win the Oscar, I think that there could have been some backlash for whatever reason. Instead, it avoided all that, but was still clearly the best performance of the night and one of the big moments of the night. The fact that TIHTY lost got more attention than if it would have won, which meant more attention for the message...which is what was important in the long run anyhow!

There are many reasons why I, and so many of us feel annoyed about it. I'd say mine were...

#6. Losing to a singer who's only released one album and still has so much to prove in the business.

#5. Losing to a Bond song when the last movie won the honour and the Oscars have rarely granted wins to anything to do with the Bond franchise, especially for 2 consecutive films.

#4. Losing to a song that got mixed critical reception from critics and public alike (and some of the public really disliked it).

#3. Diane losing her 7th nomination despite Leo DiCaprio winning his long-awaited Oscar after 3 failed Best Actor nominations.

#2. Losing with a song about uncovering sexual abuse on college campuses when Spotlight won Best Picture, which is about exposing child sexual abuse in the church.

But by far, the biggest annoyance is....

#1. Gaga was the red-hot favourite to win this award, as clarified by many sources AND SHE STILL LOST.

We fans must have noticed a pattern here. Why does Gaga repeatedly enter awards shows as the most likely winner but so rarely get what's expected? Everyone else seems to do it with ease. Taylor enters music awards as the favourite all the time and she wins. So does Adele. Pretty much all the Oscar winners tonight were 100% expected judging by how the media determined the favourites. When it comes to the Oscars, there's rarely an upset because they're so steadfast when it comes to following through on what the experts predicted before the ceremony. Honestly, ever since BTW, Gaga stopped winning awards in which she was clearly the favourite going in. That Grammy for C2C is the only award I can think of in the last few years where she won after entering as the favourite (the Golden Globe doesn't count - she wasn't the favourite then). It just seems like she's jinxed every time and it's like the committees work against her deliberately or something. It's pretty much the norm these days - get Gaga to perform on your show to be a ratings draw and have the world talk about your show tomorrow but don't allow her to win actually win anything. I'm sick of this amazing, talented woman being used for ratings but ignored when it actually comes to awarding the talent that gets the people talking the next day.

She's still getting discriminated against for being a gay activists smh.

I believe Gaga's words about the song being pretty much a complete thing when she was added to the project lol
