So when do you suggest she releases new material? :awkney:

I might be wrong, but I almost think the reverse, not release something right away after Oscars.   Usually that's the way you would do it.   There might be Gaga fatigue, maybe, though?. She's been everywhere doing performances, that were all received well, but there's been a lot of Gaga.  Maybe give it a few months and retreat from the music scene after the Oscars, and then back out full force with a single out of the blue.

This is exactly, precisely, what I've been thinking. I see everyone here wanting Gaga to release something right after the Oscars, but that would be so extra. Like we already have had so much of her this month. She should wait just a little more, perfect the album, and then release her first single.

Also, I don't want the gap between the lead single and lg5 to be too big. One month is perfect. Just like with 25.

I replied previously "So when do you suggest she releases new material?" because based on their logic, people are always going to judge artists' works. It's not going to stop anytime soon.

I hope The Oscars 2016 is the last "image fix" event.

I'm ready for new original music.

For me, this is simply huge. And a great article, i think many here didn't really get what's the author coming from, though.

They're just commenting what everyone learned with Gaga and her past manager, yes props to the later as well, that you're selling everything but the music. But Gaga needs to come through with her creation. Not rellying on antics etc.

We've discussed this before, i'm with PopBitch and B. Salvatore, she needs to disappear after sunday, keep low doing her thing and surprise us a few months after this craziness. It's good for her and her team, they have time to really do things like they should and it's good to make people appreciate how much they've missed Gags.

And TIHTY will probably gain a life of it's own, so a release now would trample a very possible success of the single.

the overall message of the article is okay, but i still didn't like it.

these parts, for instance, are unnecessary and i don't agree with them... at all:

Gaga’s last album of original material, 2013’s ARTPOP, indicated Gaga had, if only temporarily, lost her balance on the tightrope of provocation. It was a series of ideas and philosophical statements with little musicianship;

one of my friends listened to her entire discography and she loved ARTPOP. she said that it feels entirely different when compared to her previous records. she said that on her own. then i thought to myself: oh, wow; i do love ARTPOP, but maybe it's worth listening to and viewing it form another perspective. if a casual listener says that on their own, it must be something that fans/stans are, by definition, unable to see. in any case, gagz painted on the electro canvas with her pain and created the colorful bliss that is ARTPOP. if that's not musicianship, i don't know what is.

In her musical life, Gaga has long lacked the ability to edit.

that's funny because her oeuvre consists of conceptual albums with clear themes, motifs, and visuals. for me, they are pretty cohesive.

Her career beached itself because she was too intent on telling us her big ideas about fame. Now, she’s close to regaining her throne by showing us that she understands fame’s often-substanceless nature better than anybody, to be perceived as a risk-taker by risking nothing.

she did the exact same thing with her first record, it is even titled The Fame, FFS. i'd argue that being intent on telling "her big ideas" is a clear indication of her artistic integrity.

substanceless? well, during the ARTPOP era, she made it clear that there is a difference between artists and celebrities or, if you will, applause and cheap applause. i don't personally think that it's a value judgement, she only emphasized that there is a difference.

Her music will be out before we know it, so take a seat, junior.

Do your own research.

I agree in full.

I agree with most of what the writer is saying, but I don't get his assertion that releasing an album would be a bad idea right now. Kanye, Rihanna and Beyonce's music isn't being talked about because it's just not worth talking about. The controversy over TIDAL exclusives, Kanye's behaviour, Rihanna's horrendous marketing strategy, and 'Formation's lyrical content far outweigh the quality of the music.

If the music is good, it will speak for itself (re: Adele). And I have faith that Gaga will deliver with this new record. She just needs to remember that she's a musician, first and foremost.

I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!

All of this.

Just imagine what will happen if the lead is bad lol Even if the rest of the album is gold and it was just a wrong single selection, fans would lose their minds.

And I quote "Who needs new material in a media environment where everything—every individual cover song on an awards show, every sickeningly perfect outfit on the red carpet or on a TV show—can generate copy? At this point, to release a full-length album of new songs—songs that viewers could judge on their own merits outside the overheated environment of awards-show Twitter—is the most dangerous thing Gaga could do."

Wtf is there problem? So according to them Gaga should just stay as tribute pop singer and restrain from releasing any of her OWN music? Gurl bye, it's a category close. They're pulling space ships and UFOs hunty.

Ughhh expect LG5 feb 2017. 😭

I see you :stalkga:
