The head of the Nation of Islam backed the superstar during a sermon on Sunday. Calling her "my sweet sister Beyoncé," Farrakhan spoke out about the controversy surrounding the singer's Super Bowl halftime show performance this month, in which her backup dancers appeared in Black Panther-esque garb.

Along with the Afro-centric video for her single "Formation," it has led to harsh criticism and some police urging their fellow officers to avoid providing security for her upcoming tour.

Farrakhan said during his sermon that "She started talking that black stuff ... and white folks (said), 'We don't know how to deal with that.' "

"But when one of us shows some independence, look how you treating Beyoncé now," he said. "You gonna picket. You not going to offer her police protection? But the (Fruit of Islam, the security branch of his organization,) will."

It is a shame how people react to Beyoncé who decides to speak issues that are still tabooed in many parts of the USA. I wish her all the safety and happiness.

Beyoncé isn't being criticized for bringing up race issues and starting constructive dialogs. She's being criticized because she glorifies cop killers.

Glorify cop killers all you want, but do not cry about it when the cops decide they won't provide security at your shows. She gets what she deserves.

She's being offered security by Nation of Islam because police organizations continue to be in denial of their own racial profiling and abuse. What is it going to take for them to wake up and see the forest from the trees and smell their own **** at their knees?

Stand in the light, cast your shadow.

The media and some ppl are trying to make it so much bigger than it actually is...
No one even remembers what happened during the Super Bowl anymore...ppl simply don't care! That's why nobody showed up to that insane anti-Beyoncé rally...frankly, GGD is the only place I hear ppl talking about it at this point...

Beyoncé is just as safe and as loved and as she was before Formation was released.

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

How on earth is she glorifying cop killers? Are you sure you know what glorifying means?

Paying homage/celebrating = glorifying

You'd have to be a delusional pop fan not to see the damage in the way Beyoncé goes about her "message"

That is absolutely false. Just about every police sanction in the US is going through racial training. You have sherifs every single day on the radio talking about how their officers don't feel like they can enforce the law with the necessary force because they don't want the media to paint them as racist pigs in case someone (god forbid) dies.

Racial sensitivity in the policing community has already started. Yet when Beyonce comes in and uses her platform to celebrate an era of terror-pushing cop killers, it is destructive to the situation.

Illuminati

She did kind of glamorize anarchy in her video, I know how she perhaps wanted this to be received and that her video was most likely more about police injustice when it comes to dealing with black people in some places but essentially it's an ad for black people to fight against police so it's not a surprise police won't support that.

I can't believe that's what you've taken out of Beyonce's 'Formation'.

Beyonce's causing ZERO damage by incorporating these themes in her music. What's damaging is how many people are turning a blind eye to the issue Beyonce's making a statement on in that video. That's the problem here.

So black child dancing in front of cops and raising his hands is an ad for black people to fight against police? :duck:

In what universe?

I think this is such big deal because Beyonce usually hides from the public eye. She's very shy and she like for her talent to be the reason for her famous. However, Beyonce has realized her power and influence, so she is speaking out on issues like police brutality or the oppression of African Americans. People have been speaking on these issues since the beginning of time seems like, but as soon as Beyonce does it, it's like the end of the world. lol, LEAVE BEYONCE ALONE!!! lmao
