Music 15,215
1 year ago today, the 87th Academy Awards celebrated the 50th anniversary of the release of the film ‘The Sound of Music’, presenting a montage of the iconic film followed by a showstopping performance by Lady Gaga; who sang well-known numbers from the musical. Lady Gaga performed a medley comprising of The Sound of Music, My Favorite Things, Edelweiss, and Climb Ev'ry Mountain, and her powerful vocals were met with a standing ovation from the audience. Following the medley, a grinning Julie Andrews then joined her onstage, embracing the singer and thanking her for her tribute; declaring that “it really warmed her heart”. There is no denying that this moment in Lady Gaga's career will stand as one of her most critically acclaimed, by media outlets and by the general public. Mister Gaga 22,747
The real question here is: was your fave invited to perform two years in a row at the world's most popular show? or is she limited to the VMAs? Slay gags, oscars are now a regular event for you

mariomania1234 11,368
I was in literal shock as the performance was happening. I never knew she had those kind of vocals even as a hardcore fan. This will go down as one of the most iconic performances of her career and in my opinion the best Oscar tribute performance ever. I'd never felt so proud of her as a fan. Very emotional night for me.

I remember watching the awards with my best friend and her parents and as she started singing, I started to bawl. Literally. I've known Gaga and her musical capabilities for a while now but I wasn't prepared for such an outstanding, intricate and well executed performance. Her vocal quality was top notch and several weaves were snatched. Pink flamingos always fascinated me.

When they raised the curtain after Scarlett Johansson announced her, I was completely shocked to hear her sing almost identically to Julie Andrews! I know Gaga has some serious chops, probably one of the best in the music industry, but I wasn't prepared to hear her sing in such a classical manner. After Gaga finished her medley, I was so proud of her because it was then that I realized she has really come a long way from her Just Dance days. To see all of Hollywood royalty give Gaga such a heart-felt standing ovation made me feel so good to stan for such a talented woman. This was clearly a career-defining performance and one that has cemented her as a talented singer that can sing in practically any range there is. Lady Gaga is more than meets the eye! I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

Fernster7 7,909
One of my favorite performances ever! I remember being so nervous about this and was shocked when I saw the reaction. So much respect from people all over the world, I was so proud of my girl. Here's to more iconic performances like this. Love you Gaga! We have two selves. One the world needs us to be, compliant, and the shadow. Ignore it and life is forever suffering.
