I don't have compassion for well known singers like Katy Perry who bully lesser known artists like Ryn Weaver. NO COMPASSION FOR BULLIES, AM I MAKING MYSELF CLEAR??? Or did you want me to feel sorry for YOU?

I believe it. Katy is that girl who pretends to be perfect but is far from it.

Katy's career is practically a joke now anyway. Roar did well, Unconditionally flopped, Dark Horse did okay, Birthday FLOP, This Is How We Do, FLOP. and her backup dancer got more attention than she did for her very artificial and prop heavy Super Bowl performance.

I just think people are over her and the industry is moving towards a trend of artists actually have to be talented to be successful. I think the war with Taylor did her in honestly... I mean, let's be real here Meghan Trainor won a Grammy before Katy did and Taylor has 10 including two AOTY awards.

I believe Ryn because Katy is not a musician, she's a mean spirited poser who is in it for the success and money and not the craft- I think the Grammy board sees that too which is why she hasn't won music's most prestigious award even though she can sell a **** ton of singles.

It wasn't "a bit higher". Those three songs were breaking AirPlay increase records while the songs lagged far behind. We followed these songs everyday in the charts thread during that time.

No, not all of her singles sold well in the end, especially not when compared to other songs that were getting the same level and duration of support.

TIHWD was pushed for weeks by radio. Its iTunes chart position was so disappointing and the call out scores so bad, radio finally let it go. It peaked higher than it should have for a fifth single that listeners did not respond to in any kind of impressive way.

Yes, they do...but the tremendous support she had for songs that were not connecting with the listening and buying public showed that legal payola was involved. No one said she was the only artist that receives this payola benefit, just that she is one of them that does.

BD and TIHWD were fourth and fifth singles, coming after a second single that was a marginal success. They still pushed those two singles like they were the debut single of a pop superstar, or like they were sitting at number one on iTunes. Everyone that follows charts on radio forums noticed the questionably high support and was discussing it. I can't remember another time I've seen a fourth and fifth single pushed that hard, that fast, especially when it clearly isn't connecting.

Radio payola is a tactic used by the major labels. When an artist is supported far beyond their general interest level is showing, especially on later singles, you can logically know that some form of payola is involved.

She is the one that got record setting radio play increases for songs that weren't appealing to listeners. It was obvious to anyone that was closely following the charts daily during that time.

How many pages do you want to go with this, because I can go for hours.

They were selling well and/or doing well on other formats outside of or along with pop formats and/or had good call out scores....all things that translate to radio AirPlay. Why are you even bringing up songs from seven or eight years before BD and TIHWD? That was a whole different world, as far as album and single sales!

BD and TIHWD were underperforming singles...not "coming from underperforming singles".

Katy has record setting increases for singles that were not connecting with music listeners and buyers.

Yeah, all of that was factored in. Her radio increases were still way off for the reception from the listeners...and that included streaming.

You are going to be unraveled when Katy drops her next album, if you get this worked up over legal payola. This next era is gonna be a blast! :yay:

what does any of these posts have to do with the topic at hand? why are you derailing katy threads?

As you can see, the discussion on radio payola started in on one of the first pages of this thread between commenters other than myself. I replied and those first two posts were liked by Kayla.

I didn't start the discussion. I can look back and get the names of those who did start the discussion if you would like. I guess if you want to report them for "derailing the thread", you can do so. Would you like me to get those names for you?

I'm going to bow out of this discussion, as it is completely off topic. If you would like to discuss the topic or anything having to do with music tied into this topic, I'll be happy to reply.

Radio play can easily push a popular song to the top 10, if the listeners are liking what they hear.

Nearly T10...that's the point. Even with two videos and tons of radio play, it didn't and it didn't consistently stay high enough to warrent the radio play it was getting.

it was #12 on iTunes for like 4 days and never promoted again
