Like Beyonce's self titled did last year?

Oh, wait...

Pointing out a few exceptions here and there won't support your point. If the Grammy's truly was about quality only, we wouldn't mostly be seeing a majority of the nominations be from artists that sell well. To say 1989 was the BEST album of the entire year out of the thousands of albums released last year is just silly. People voted for it because it sold well and everyone knew about it + was generally a good album. They won't vote for an album they haven't heard.

I liked 1989 it was a good album and I generally only like a few songs off her albums. It's the only album of the last two years in English that I listen to still. Kendrick is not my cup of tea, it isn't to say he isn't talented but I can see why albums like his don't win a generic Album of the year award. Out of the people voting, most are going to find Taylor's album more appealing than Kendrick's. That's why they separate these awards into categories because it is just too hard to compare a country album to a rap album to a pop album, etc, etc because not everyone is going to enjoy all those genres. I feel like just being nominated for this award is just as good as winning.

Kudos to Taylor and Kendrick they both had good nights.

It's not really a few exceptions, though. The AOTY category has always been a tricky one. Many of the albums nominated over the years aren't in any best seller category and the best selling album has failed to win many times. The category is unpredictable, tbh.

Well..who cares, no one really cares about 1989 anymore. :hor: BYE BYE. But frankly, 1989 is def not a bad album. So, congraz I guess.

I guess talent doesn't always win :awkney:

What a stupid thing to say. Taylor Swift is talented. Why are people always so bitter on this forum?

Well I must say Taylor sure did deserve this award. Before 25 came out there was no album that could beat it.

Plus didn't Kendrick leave with more Grammys than Taylor? He won 5 didn't he? One for being in the Bad Blood music video. So whatever she got 3 and he got 5 So what's the big deal?

May I also mention, everyone saying "of course they chose the most generic popular album" but what album won last year for album of the year? Beck. Everyone was all pissed that Beyoncé didn't win.

You're all a bunch of whiny c*nts.

If he walked away with 5 awards wouldn't that point to his music being more worthy of critical acclaim, though? :duck:

I mean, they basically said "You were the best in 5 ways, Taylor was the best in 3 ways (one of which you were included in), but we're gonna give the biggest award to her."

Taylor got album of the year for how responded to her album socially, if that makes sense, and because it was a welldone fun Pop album, but that's kindof it.
If you strip away public hype and focus only on artistic merit of the songs, Kendrick's album blows 1989 out of the water. You don't have to like it better- you can enjoy 1989 and think it's a "better" album subjectively. But objectively there is so much more going on with Kendrick's album than Taylor's, and it's all powerful, relevant, and intelligent.

Album of the Year from a social perspective? Sure, 1989 can take it.
Album of the Year from an artistic perspective? TPAB should have won without question.

"You can be me if you work hard." False. You are a cute, blonde, white woman with doe eyes who writes unchallenging music and had an upper middle class family to push you through into music. Not everyone has that. Good god, I hate her ignorant liberalism so much.

She does work hard, probably incredibly, but it's so ignorant to say that anyone can do what she did if they try hard enough. That just perpetuates the elitist view that being poor is morally wrong because you don't work hard enough. F**k off, TSwift.

Even SHE's made better albums. Like, this is not her best work.

Now I am actually disappointed.

Don't be cuz this time next year GaGa will be winning all the Grammy awards after her best era yet.

Hm...I personally would disagree with that, even though my favorite T-Swift song isn't from 1989. :P
