Whitney had the best, Gaga is second, which is nothing to be ashamed of at all. The fact people even debate about who is better is enough to prove Gaga's immense talent

Very much agreed.

Also, to claim that it's disrespectful to have the opinion that Gaga's was better is just plain ludicrous. Having that opinion is not even close to being disrespectful.

You can have the opinion that Whitney's was better, but saying to disagree with that opinion is disrespectful is so stupid and illogical. Like look up the definition for that word :smh:

Technically, Whitney is the better singer between the two. That's not an opinion, either. Sorry. Only people who aren't academically educated in music would disagree. The closest Gaga got to Whitney-esque vocals was the Sound of Music tribute

And whitney's not being live doesn't mean her rendition wasn't good. Y'all are acting like the voice in her performance is totally different from her actual voice. It's a moot point.

Whitney's rendition was amazing. However, there is a definite difference between a recording in a controlled indoor environment, without all the pressure of singing live in front of millions of people...and singing live in an outdoor stadium with all the sounds and possible distractions and with the added pressure of singing live in front of millions of people. If Whitney had a voice crack or forgot a few words, they would have recorded it again...no big deal. If Gaga had a voice crack or dropped some words, that was going out to millions of people around the world!

You are crazy if you think these differences are a moot point.

Cracks notwithstanding, live 2016 Gaga isn't even close to pre-recorded 1991 Whitney Houston. If it were prerecorded 2012 Whitney, it would be totally different since her voice was a complete disaster by then.

Whitney's live offerings from the early 90's prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that her voice was leagues ahead of Lady Gaga.

Even if she sung live and had cracks, her voice is technically better so it wouldn't have mattered either way. Whitney Houston is not Milli Vanilli nor was she lip syncing to a heavily edited and auto tuned track. Her version is pretty much her voice.

Wow, way to jump to extremes with Milli Vanilli! Lol

Whitney's version is her voice...that is correct. Still, that doesn't mean that live vs recorded is a "moot point". The two vocal performances were under different circumstances. A live performance vs a studio recording is always going to be different.

In my honest opinion, I prefer Gaga's performance overall because she masterfully blended many elements including:

Emotional storytelling, patriotic body language, strong lower-range vocals, vibrant outfit, and control of live-performance nerves.
