Noah 26,583
I actually wanted to go to sleep, but now I want to talk about this for a bit. Today in school, I heard a terrible conversation. They talked about how female singers are only showing skin to sale. They used 'Anaconda', 'Bang Bang' or 'Drunk in Love' as examples that woman are untalented and only show skin to make their coins. This made me SO angry, because these girls and boys who said that, stan for those male artists that are shirtless in most of their music videos. Of course, when a female is showing what she has and is confident, she's a *****, but when a Boyband Member leaks his nudes he is 'hot'. I am tired of it. 'Woman shouldn't take their clothes off? ' Isn't that for everyone to decide on their own? Are you basing talent on how many clothes someone wears??! What is wrong with this generation. Where them feminists at?! ⟡ ⋆ ˚。⋆🦢⋆ ˚。⋆⟡
venusfly 17,885
It won't do either, she's a radio pleasing generic pop star that will be big no matter what, just like Katy.

gagzus 14,472
sexism in music is a mess, i once heard someone say at work that the men in the music industry experience the MOST sexism because they aren't viewed as successful as female artists because most of the top 40 is female artist. Which yes I agree females rule the industry lately, BUT that's only because they're forced to experience sexism and crafted to sell sex to grasp people's attention tbh, but that's not a bad thing- the bad thing is people saying they NEED to and companies forcing them to and people not having feminist views about women in music. Especially when it comes to sex
Daredevil 2,133
The problem is if a woman shows skin it's sluty, but if a man has 100 women in bikini in his music video it's totally normal. People who say feminism isn't necessary are ignorant.
Mobster 14,604
I wouldn't blame it on this generation. This generation has actually pushed the boundaries set by previous generations. We're in the process of becoming less judgemental. I'm assuming these "boys and girls" are young and want to seem interesting by commenting on something they probably have no clue about. But they'll hopefully grow up to be less idiotic, when their cognitive capacity is more evolved But I'm only a man and I do what I can.
MrBlue 800
Unfortunately sexism happens kinda everywhere (music industry, publicities, jobs...)
Guest
I think many female stars are trapped in an oversexualized image of woman in the music industry. That's what the industry wants from them in order to exist in the pop stardom, being "hot and sexy" (sometimes even raunchy) 24/7. That's why I don't like Beyonce, Rihanna etc they don't crumple their image or their beauty and I think that's the difference between a corporate entertainer and a true artist! I love Gaga-and only her-because she is the only female major popstar who is actually a real artist and not another bitch in a fancy dress. How Beyonce supposed to be a girl empowerment person/or even a "feminist" (so funny!) when she is "perfect" all the time and even photoshoping her pics on instagram to make her legs look thinner and of course by wearing wigs in her everyday life (where she's not an artist there), what about reeeeally loving your self as a woman?! What examples do these girls set? Their male bosses wanted them to look "perfect and young" all the time! And that's what these women are accepting to do (adopting "perfectness") in order to build up a career or to mantain their relevant status in the business. Swan Heart 7,382
Sexism is a pretty huge problem in the music industry. ''Everything That A Guy Says Once, You Have To Say 5 Times'' - Björk They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be. mmm 879
Lady Gaga is always naked but nobody accuses her of selling sex because it is authentic.. it seems like the only thing pop female artists want to express these days is their sexuality and they do it for publicity. This has nothing to do with sexism.

The Child 18,997
Well I got in a lot of arguments about this at school, I told them so when Nick Jonas of Chris Brown is shirtless in their mvs it's hot and sexy and "manly" but when Miley, Beyonce, Britney, Gaga, Rihanna & Nicki are wearing sexy outfits they are whores? Like how is that supposed to make sense? ‘If religion be the cause of disunity, then irreligion is surely to be preferred.’ ‘Abdu’l-Bahá
KURUSHITOVSKA 20,442
I hate it when "artists" need to show body to sell records, like I don't even care about your a*ss, I care about your skills. Same happens to me with Instagram accounts that can't keep their gym body and ass to them (happens so much in the gay community). Why would your muscles matter to me? Everyone can be muscled if they work hard so if you don't have any special thing to show, just keep it. I don't care if they're male or female. let me underline this to avoid quotings tellin me I'm a misogynist or something. ¿Qué currículum tiene ésta tarántula? Noir 14,782
the saddest part is most people don't even care (well at least not at my college) they just accept it and feel pretty content being openly sexist/racist
Creyk 17,011
Why is this a problem? No matter how much skin someone shows, if the music is not there it won't matter anyway. It's not only a hot body that sells the songs.
