First of all, Gaga is a new rider and people without much experience should be riding with a saddle instead of a bareback pad, which isn't as safe. The fact that she isn't wearing a helmet or shoes is also really concerning. She could suffer a severe brain injury if she falls off. The 800 pound horse would crush her foot if she stepped on it. People were commenting that the bareback pad she is sitting on is either in the wrong position or was put on too loose and slipped back. Apparently horses can get spooked if the straps touch its flank (and it is in the picture). This is the proper position for a bareback pad. I can't bear the thought of her getting an injury worse than her hip incident. I keep thinking of what happened to Christopher Reeves and I get so nervous for her. People can say this and that is safe but anything is possible right? And she needs to take the proper precaution to eliminate all possibilities of getting injured if she can. She can definitely afford any equipment, and I'm sure riding with a saddle and a helmet wouldn't take away any of the enjoyment she's having. I don't understand pineapples, so I don't eat bananas. It doesn't matter if the horse is just walking. If her horse gets spooked it can lunge up or start running and easily toss her off. Its like riding a motorcycle without shoes or a helmet. Christopher Reeves had on a helmet, protective vest and all the proper riding equipment when he was thrown on his head during a completion. Yes, anything is possible. Gaga could fall on stage and break her neck and be paralyzed. I'm sure if she was riding in an equestrian competition like Reeves was doing, she would wear a helmet and the proper protective gear.
