The FineBros announce React World, lose nearly 300K subscribers in 4 days

On Tuesday, The FineBros, the channel that produces the popular REACT series, uploaded this video:

Users would be able to license shows that The FineBros have made and "share revenue". But the big kicker is that they have registered to trademark the word "REACT" and have even taken down other users' videos, including 8-bit Eric.

Given the severe backlash they have received, The FineBros uploaded this video today to try to (unsuccessfully) clear up any misunderstandings and to help ease the community.

Judging from the comments, people are not so willing to forgive. In less than 24 hours, The FineBros Youtube channel has lost more than 100,000 subscribers. The terms of infringement on the trademark are still too broad, leading users to believe that any video with a title like "Blank Reacts to Blank" could be taken down.

Looks like they've given up and done away with the trademarks and React World. As of this update they have lost 292,771 subscribers.

I'm not mad about them trademarking the word 'react' and their follow up explanation video seemed fair too, BUT...**** went down when it cleared up that they're hypocrites and liars, they spoke about how they're not taking others reacting videos down as long it doesn't  equivalent their style and format when they've taken down tons of react videos and channels that has nothing similar to their style.

I don't understand why they would want to do it in the first place—aside from obvious revenue and money. What's the purpose in trying to have one collective group full of their content? The whole thing's just unnecessary. 

Oh, and the "we'll change the world" and "this is for the betterment of the community" thing is just a load of B.S. Their reaction videos shouldn't be taken as scripture or something. They're just trying to be pretentious.

I've been subscribed to their channel for a while and I love their videos, but this made me lose a lot of respect for them. I'm glad people are seeing through their bullshit and are refusing to support them. They deserve all the backlash they're getting, and I hope losing all this credibility and thousands of subscribers will humble them, because clearly they let their success go to their heads. Hopefully they will backtrack and give up the project.
