andy232000 11,456 Posted January 22, 2016 Share Posted January 22, 2016 well, yes if she makes bubblegum pop, but what people keep forgetting is that Katy is about to embark on her ARTPOP era. why? well because PRISM was very successful and GP friendly. everyone knew PRISM. so now, unless Katy Tops PRISM, she wont be successful like before because the media will be all "Katy Perry fails to raise the bar after Prism" and stuff like that. that will cause KP4 to falter unless she really takes it up a notch. but after exiting a very successful era, its very hard to live up to it. look at BTW and ARTPOP. the only artist to not be affected by this was Adele, and she didnt even liv up to 21. she was safe because people were very hungry for her. I still believe that gaga will release lead single in February unswer: imo katy's album will be GP and radio friendly so she will overshadow gaga. Gaga has had a whole year of doing things Katy simply cannot do at her stage of artistic development. Some you will disagree, I know, but consider it. Could Katy have classically sung a Sound of Music tribute in the same key Julie Andrews originally sung it? Could she have gone on a tour with Tony Bennett? Work with all these renowned producers and writers? Katy is still firmly grounded in Top 40 radio and will possibly perform better on the charts because of that. But after everything Gaga has achieved it doesn't even feel right to compare the two anymore. Gaga is without doubt LEVELS higher than Katy. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

She said that dark comment when she was depressed about her divorce and had a bad day. The original concept of the album was different, but then she found a self-help book called the power of now (which also inspired her song This Moment) that inspired her to be a more positive person, and that is why the album didn't become dark in the end. Gaga is gaining back her fans/support with GG/AHS and C2C while Katy just got off a Superbowl and sold out tour and 2 monster hit singles (one of which is a diamond). I see it as Gaga succeeding this time with album (and mediocre charting singles (something like BTW)), and Katy with smashing first single and possible another hit or 2 tops and the rest being mediocre and with album sales similar to PRISM if not slightly higher.
