Gaga's criticism of being "wooden" on AHS is misguided

Stop trying to clapback me. You're failing miserably at it, and only continuing to prove how much of a failure your skills at reading comprehension are.

Do you wanna take this to a PM? I absolutely wish to continue this conversation, but I don't want this thread to get any more derailed than it already is.

i think she looks so wooden because she's not seasoned like every other actor/actress on the show. it was her first, actual acting job, and while she was good as the countess, some actors overshadowed her performance because you know....they've been acting for a while. I mean, that's really no excuse since the shittest of actors could be acting for years, but everyone this season in generally good.

i would agree with some people that there's a lot to improve on but i wouldn't say she's a terrible actress. she got better as the season went on i've obeserved. my only complaint really is that her screaming scenes are very..awkward. like, it doesn't sound geunine.

however, saying she's putting on a better performance than Evan Peters or Mare Winningham, or even Sarah Paulson is complete delusion though :rip: i get some of you defend gaga through everything but she isn't the best actor on this season, though i suppose that's subjective. and i think it's funny when you all act like gaga affected this season so much despite the ratings have stayed the same as they were for the past two seasons :rip:

the people flat out saying she's horrible are, i feel, complaining for the sake of complaining. same goes for her winning a golden globe. i know award shows can be rigged but she did a decent job with countess.

I still think "Wooden" is a wrong description. She had issues with intonation.

Still I agree. Gaga was definitely not the best actress on AHS, or even the best actress out of all the nominees for the GG.

The point is these awards aren't just awarded based on overall performance but on a variety of other factors. For example, Gaga may have left a lasting impression on some of the voters that other actresses who performed better didn't. I'm not going to deny that her star power had no effect on that, but would you not say that she was memorable as the Countess? I think she was, and so did many others.

Why would we? At this point we're resorting to open mockery. Clearly it won't end well.

'cause I don't enjoy these things and I actually care about having constructive conversations that solve something, contrary to what you may believe :yay:

But fine.

What makes you say that?

My opinion, which y'know it's more than enough to say it. Go find someone else willing to deal with your bullshit attitude of wanting to prove others wrong

But some may say there were a couple other actresses such as Kirsten Dunst and Felicity Huffman's performances were much better and should have been noticed. Same with characters Jessica Lange & Sarah Paulson played on AHS that didn't win a Globe.

Well, as usual, everything is subjective. But I have to say that Gaga was much better than some of these actresses you mention when it comes to mannerisms and overall physical expression. She may have been shaky with her line delivery at the beginning of the season but that is not all that acting is. Gaga has a mastery in using her body and expressions to convey emotions.

I think the character in general is pretty intentionally wooden so that criticism makes sense, but it's more about the character and if anything it's validation that Gaga evoked The Countess correctly :laughga: However on the whole I disagree, you see in the past 2-3 episodes that the wooden shell lifts and there's loads of emotional depth behind the cold and hard exterior :omg:

well where i feel there's a stiffness is a combination with the dialogue written for her. so much of it is just cliches and the other half is actual dialogue. a lot of it just doesnt sound like things an actual person would say, even though she's not normal and has been around for a hundred years that doesn't mean it has to be cringe worthy hearing her lightly glaze over her lines like she cant remember them. idk putting a new actress with a writer like ryan murphy is bound to have many flaws. i still think she's gotten better, and when it works, it works really well.
