Agreed to all of them.

Add to that, it was one of the first albums in those times to incorporate clear vocals on chorus. Frankly speaking, I had never heard a chorus as clear as that of Poker Face before ever, back in 2009.

Any Christina Aguilera song?

Lol but he has a history of plagiarising and like...doesn't deserve any notoriety he gets

Yea the video is kind of cringeworthy in the way that it implies Elvis invented modern pop songwriting standards when in reality he just copied Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry, but then again this is taking popularity and impact on pop culture into account as well. If the list was based purely on originality and influence then none of these albums would deserve to be anywhere near it except Revolver and Pet Sounds.

Anyway, glad to see The Fame on this list. I was just saying the other day that it's the only major pop album of this current generation that ranks among the greats :applause:

2. Made EDM acceptable on mainstream radio on the widest scale ever. Pop music in from 2000-2008 was mostly r&b influenced. After Gaga and by 2010, pop music was mostly electronic. Actually, even hip hop became more electronic which would bring about trap.

We're only talking about the album here. So the music is all we need to discuss.

And musically, imo the impact has been limited, mostly because Gaga's album sound was never imitated. Sure, dance became a major influence on pop music (in the U.S. only, mind you - Europe is a different story), but I see The Fame more as one factor among many for that to happen.

I don't disagree with your other posts, I just think the album is overrated in its impact. If anything impacted the music industry it's Just Dance and especially Poker Face, honestly, what did any other album tracks do? A lot of them don't even fall in the dance category. That makes me doubt that the album specifically should be noted as "redefining the industry".

So meh. Not convinced.

That album changed pop music...

She and those songs/ videos brought performance, fashion, drama, creativity back to pop. It also inspired healthy competition for years between top artists. Also helped edm/ dance music into pop. That album doesn't desrve top 10 but it is top 20

We're not talking about making a temporary change, we're talking about redefining pop music as a whole. Dance had been in pop music forever. It got out of style, whatever. The Fame was one of the things that brought it back (other artists, incl. Rihanna had already made dance pop right before) but it only brought back something that was injected in pop music in the first place.

Not saying the album didn't achieve anything, the only thing I responded to was that it supposedly "redefined" pop music. I think that's too much, but I think the replies I get are too much too tbh. Y'all are acting like I said the album was a worthless piece of **** (it's my FAVORITE like I said, hello). And I don't get why people are bringing up fashion and music video's and **** when I was obviously talking about the music alone..

I never said you said that im just disagreeing with you. AndI think I did re define pop for a new generation. Rhianna was not as edgey like she is now. Gaga Changed (Redefined) what it was to be a pop star.

Rhianna 2007

2009

She was not dance she was R&B. Everyone went more electronic after Gaga and the industry started to change everything after Gaga. Im not even saying that becasue im a fan. If the fame was anything like ARTPOP or if it wasent good I would say it. But Gaga did change pop music and it started with The Fame

Edit: This video shown brought up music videos (MJ).... The spicegirls idvidality, That has to do with impact

You're lyin' tho :gaycat:

Rihanna did SOS (a dance song reeking of the 80's, obviously), Shut Up and Drive (new wave song, clearly referring to the 70's and 80's), Don't Stop the Music (straight-up dance) and Disturbia (dance-pop/electropop closest to Gaga's aesthetic) before Gaga blew up.

And your edgy thing is off too. Yes she changed her aesthetic but I think it's obvious she changed it because of her own musical road :emma: I mean, look at her Disturbia vid:

Performance at the 2008 VMA's:

She was obviously planning Rated R's dark aesthetic (and remember that Rated R was released almost on the same day as TFM so there can't be a connection there either) so imo the connection between TF and Rihanna's change of aesthetic is deluded: she went for a dark, edgy sound (obviously not the sound of TF) and changed her visuals accordingly, also not influenced by Gaga, since Gaga only changed to a darker aesthetic with Bad Romance, which was released at the same time as Russian Roulette where she looked like this, obviously continuing her Disturbia visuals:

The biggest flaw in your story is that Rihanna actually went back to R&B for Rated R. There's not a single influence of TF to be found on that album. If someone's then gonna say: ok, but that album was planned before Gaga had impact, so we should really look at Loud: that album was inspired by eurodance (which is closer to house, a genre Rihanna banked on instead of the synthpop-inspired electropop Gaga was bringing to the table - obviously this move had a much larger impact on pop music than TF/TFM: house is everywhere in pop music, even now).

So no, Rihanna changed her visuals unrelated to Gaga.

No, Rihanna did not go electronic because of Gaga.

No, TF did not redefine pop music.

That's your reply to all my arguments?

That article doesn't even address anything I said. Well, it does say Rihanna reinvented herself (no mention of Gaga). I don't agree with the idea that Gaga showed that dance-pop could be fruitful (as an alternative to R&B and hip hop) though.. I mean, I think I proved that in my own post: Rihanna already recorded and released dance-pop hits before Gaga :flop: And she's not alone.
