Postive Things/Achievements during the ARTPOP Era

I am writing a term paper about Gaga, her career, her marketing and strategy to success and life for school.

Since, I want to put her in a positive light yet look at everything objectively.

I am making a concept paper right now, with what I want to write and I don't know what positive things happened during the ARTPOP Era.

I know that ARTPOP was Japans most preordered Album by an American Artist during that time.

But there needs to be more.

Let me know.

Thanks.

Lots of Love

Well, she collaborated with absolute icons in the art world: Marina Abramovic, Robert Wilson and Jeff Koons. I think it's fairly unprecedented to have such a famous artist on the cover of a pop album and it's even more special because it's a multidisciplinary artwork in a visual sense.

You could also mention the Brooklyn event for which she paid herself. It was quite interesting because it was sort of art exhibition-esque and it preceded Miley's art exhibition and Rihanna's exhibition-esque ANTI artwork reveal, so you could argue that she set a trend, I guess.

You could also mention the G.U.Y. video being shot at the famous Hearst Castle. It's the first time since the 60's that someone was allowed to shoot there (and the last person who could was no less than Stanley Kubrick).

I think that's it tbh.

Renowned music journalist/critic Robert Christgau named it one of the best albums of 2013.

You can talk about her work with the legendary Jeff Koons, her performance art piece with Robert Wilson that was featured in museums, and believe it or not there were tons of promotion done for ARTPOP that you can discuss.

It's science, bitch

Been looking at this post for 2 minutes and it's hard to come up with stuff :rip:

humhum... The G.U.Y. music video is great. 80-90k people went to see the ARTPOP tour at the Québec summer festival. Wasn't also the ARTPOP tour top 5 of the best grossing female tours of this year? The Jeff koons stuff also...

Is it common for an artist to debut half of their upcoming album in one concert? Swinefest was very well-received by fans and critics. It allowed Gaga to jump between disparate genres and performance modes within the span of 60 minutes. A tour de force, if you will.

If I'm not mistaken, she paid for the cost of G.U.Y.'s music video herself, sort of an achievement I guess.

Do What U Want's reception was highly positive. Almost close to acclaimed. Sold 1,200,000 copies in the US despite having no music video. (AMAs + The Voice performance) - brilliant performances

Applause became Gaga's most liked video on YouTube and became her biggest radio hit. (VMAs)

The tour grossed $83 million after all and was well received generally.

No shade but I would use ARTPOP as an example of how someone like Gaga can fall? Obviously you can put a positive spin on certain aspects of the era but this is where you're going to find the most material where she was criticised.

Then you can go into her image improving since then but how it's still a little unsure of what her future will be like, it draws your work to an open end but a nice one.

That was my plan, but I still wanted it to have a positive spin.
