This is absolutly horrible, I'm still totally shocked how anything like this could have happend, it's so terrible and awful.

I have to say what I HATE is that now germans hate on refugees and muslims even more now, as if everyone was a potential rapist and this is utterly bullshit!!! Which means that the racism and xenophobia (that is already so strong here in Europe - right-wing parties get more and more acclaim by the public, even people I know in my area sound like Nazis to me sometimes tbh), I hate those generalizations and everything, so many ugly things are happening right now, the radical right and conservatives, the radical left (people burned cars etc.), sexism and violence of radical islamists and religous groups etc. - I have to say I'm so done with it, I could cry for hours, it's like everyone is crazy and I don't even feel like I could talk with anyone who is merely intelligent, no one is able to differentiate etc. but at the same time the liberal and left political parties act regressive as if there was no misogony or problem at all, but there clearly is and such horrendous incidents also happend on different places in Germany the past weeks, I'm so done with everything - this world is full of idiots!!!

City police chief Wolfgang Albers called it "a completely new dimension of crime". The men were of Arab or North African appearance, he said.

Women were also targeted in Hamburg.

But the Cologne assaults - near the city's iconic cathedral - were the most serious, German media report. At least one woman was raped, and many were groped.

Most of the crimes reported to police were robberies. A volunteer policewoman was among those sexually molested."

But please don't use Pamela Geller's site or tabloids like Daily Mail as sources. I'm sure you could find other, more neutral about the same subject, from guardian, independent or even bbc, as Simon posted.

Deported in prison? I agree on that. Important to note is that those were not refugees. Those were probably Germans with migration background.

Oh right. In that case, arrested yes. And if they would repeat crimes, they should be stripped of their citizenship imo.

Yes, exactly. But what I don't understand is: The english press wrote that some of the over 1,000 men were already known to the police - I don't understand why they weren't already in prison then or expelled from the country? That's odd to me.

Yeah I'm not sure how it is in Germany, but in Scandinavia justice system is too lenient imo. Many first time rapists get very light sentences or just probation and it's pissing me off. And if they're repeated offenders you either keep them locked or deport them.

Yes it is safe, don't worry. Especially in places like Cologne, Düsseldorf,Munich,Berlin etc. Large percentage of germans aren't racist.

Being born in Germany doesn't make you a citizen. They have no birthright citizen ship and and pretty serious about becoming officially German.
